We enjoyed our visit to Carreta's. The food and the service were excellent.
Good food that kicks up a notch because they add a little heat to the food. I prefer the more Tex-Mex spiciness over most Mexican restaurants, which are a little bland for me. The tamale was huge, but definitely needed the included sauce. Good taco and beef enchilada. And I was surprised the beans had some spice on them. The cheese dip is my favorite so far in the area; the right consistency, all cheese and just the right amount of heat. Fair service and good atmosphere.
I'll give credit where it's due. Being the day after Christmas, and one of the only few restaurants open at the time, we were seated within a minute. We did wait a bit for our drinks to be taken, but seeing as they were extremely busy while being short staffed (again, the day after Christmas too), we were fine with a little wait. Drinks were cold and food was piping hot. Will definitely be returning
Our food was cold tasteless. The cheese wasn't even melted on my refried beans. The server stumbled spilled my drink, she brought me a half of a glass of Dr. Pepper no straw. Asked for a straw napkins, we got that just before we left. I wouldn't eat there again!! Very disappointed!!
