Contribuisci feedbackUpon realizing we had ended up at a different restaurant than planned and receiving English breakfast tea instead of Chinese tea (chalk it up to miscommunication), we hesitated about staying. However, we had already placed our order, so we decided to stick around, and we're grateful that we did. The entire meal was fantastic. Two dishes that really stood out as exceptional were the fried duck in plum sauce and the pork ribs in Peking sauce. Both were boneless, which added to their appeal. The duck had wonderfully crispy skin, and the meat in both dishes was tender and flavorful. The prawn crackers, chicken and sweet corn soup, and green vegetables in oyster sauce were also delicious. We ended up staying in Cowra for the night to avoid floodwaters in Forbes, and we are already considering making a special trip back to Cowra just to dine here again.
The portion sizes at the restaurant were generous, but the flavors were not very strong. We decided to try some house wine, which we were told was bottled, but it tasted like cheap boxed wine and we couldn't finish it. The food was classic Chinese cuisine with a country twist.
The restaurant is now known as Cowra Chinese Restaurant and has recently undergone a change in management for the second time. The lunch buffet offers great value and is very enjoyable.
