We are still here and loving it.
Stayed here December 18-22. 2 people, non-all inclusive. Overall the hotel is nice but definitely has room for improvement. Upon arrival we weren’t greeted until we got to the counter and no welcome drinks were offered as someone else mentioned. We were assigned a room on the fifth floor, and the room itself was spacious and provided a great view of ocean. We also had a large balcony. The room was cleaned everyday around 5pm which was a little late but appreciated. Unfortunately, during our stay, the hot water from the sink and shower came out brown and smelled terrible. We called downstairs several times to have someone come and fix it and no one ever came so then we went downstairs to talk to the front desk. They sent maintenance up and he spent 20 min in the room running the water and then told us that that’s just the way that it is but not to worry because it’s not dirty. Needless to say, we used bottled water to brush our teeth and wash our faces and we took lukewarm showers. Also during our stay, one elevator was down, and the hotel was pretty full resulting in long wait times and an always crowded elevator. We often opted to take the stairs because it was a lot faster. Breakfast was included in our reservation through Bonvoy. Everyday after providing our room number we were offered the buffet as our meal choice. It was always super crowded in there and the line got pretty long to be seated but nonetheless, the staff was nice and the breakfast buffet offered a decent variety of foods, I saw breads, pancakes, French toast, meats, chilaquiles, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, potatoes, beans, eggs and made to order omelets. It was cold and super windy during our stay. The hotel doesn’t get much direct sunlight. Down by the beach/pool area most chairs were “towel reserved” by 10am meaning there were towels on chairs but no actual people there. So we ended up at the rooftop pool most days. The water was cold and the bar was closed but it’s a nice area to sit and hang out. We were often the only 2 people up there. The one time I did get into the ocean I jumped off the dock which was fun but I did stub my toe on a rock. On day four we walked over to the activity stand and inquired about a snorkeling excursion. We were told to come back the next morning to book a 5 hour day trip for $65/per person that included snorkeling to the top spots, soft drinks and snacks. We paid at the hotel but we had to get our own transportation to the Marina. We rented a car and parking was free. We rented off site because they don’t provide bike or buggy rental services from the hotel. The parking spaces fill up quick in the small lot but there’s street parking as well. There isn’t much to walk to at all. The three restaurants across the street don’t open until 5:30pm. Prior to renting the car each trip to town (grocery store, cruise ship area) was $10 usd by taxi. The was nice. I never made it there but my bf went daily. Overall, we had a nice time but due to the location and lack of things to do in the area I probably wouldn’t stay here again.
Stayed here for 9 nights. Loved it! My only complaint is that it was a bit far from town and the cabbies all knew that they were the only way in so they’d charge a lot more. We did the math and ended up renting a car for like $30/day which was one round trip cab ride into town. This allowed us to explore the entire island. Check out Emily’s car rental. They were great! Dropped the car off at the hotel and picked it up when we were done a few days later.
