When anything was delivered it was placed on the table with no eye contact or comment and the waitress just walking away - felt resented for being there! Shame because the food was very nice, good portions, nice quality and great environment.
Alpinelarder has delicious food and I loved all of it But, the waiters and the staff were unattentive and I felt invisible. They asked stupid questions, such as 'do I want a menu?' 'No I've just come to sit here all afternoon.'I was not greeted at the door and we had to ask where our table was after waiting to be seated for a couple of minutes.
I'm not sure how this place obtained their rating, but it was terrible. Very dead atmosphere, pizzas were dry and tasteless.
The other reviewers tell the story. No atmosphere, not open fire and we were there when it was actually snowing at the resort. No yummy selection to have a coffee with - pre-packaged biscuits. The dinner menu was very ordinaryI would not go back there. The only reason we went was it had take away coffee that we had to microwave to make it hot - it was luke warm.Sorry guys - you really need to step up, otherwise change your name to The Alpine Pizza Shop
We ate at the Alpine Larder one night when staying at Lake Crackenback and had takeaway pizza the second night. The restaurant experience was very mixed - food took ages to come, almost an hour, and my meal while tasty was cold and the kids' pizzas were soft and barely cooked. Two of our party had burgers which were reportedly delicious. Deserts were limited in choice but what we had was totally irresistible. The takeaway pizzas the next night were very good. It's quite a nice room but the loos are outside the restaurant which was painful in sub zero temps. The fire was going but was a bit of a smoky black log thing. I had coffee there next morning (coffee was very good) and fire simply smouldered out. Pity, because a great fire really improves the ambience. The menu is fairly limited, even more so if you are vegetarian, and it's not exactly cheap. I thought $10 for a glass of house white somewhat over the top.
