The service at this restaurant is excellent and the food is delicious, but it is a bit expensive for what you get. It's definitely worth checking out, but probably not somewhere you would go to regularly for a meal.
After walking the dogs around the lake, as usual myself and my partner went to get a coffee and some lunch at the waterside cafe. We go there often and never had a problem until today. Staff are usually very pleasant and helpful, and good with dogs! We ordered our coffees and meals, all came out separately. The waitress serving us was not very friendly either. My food came out, I ordered the risotto of the day, after eating a few spoons I found a hair in the meal. My partner took the meal inside and explained to the waitress who did not say anything in response, no apology, no resolution. We assumed they were just making another. A while later a new risotto was brought out. We thanked the waitress but still no apology for the inconvenience, instead her response was "so we think it's actually from your dogs, noone has black hair in our kitchen" that was all. I said it couldn't possibly be but she didn't wait around for us to explain, just walked off. No check back. After working in hospitality I understand the frustration when a complaint comes in, however we never made a fuss, simply stated their was a hair. It shouldn't matter where it was from for the customer, an apology for inconvenience would have sufficed. At the end of the day, the customer matters. If it had been one of my dogs hairs I would have just picked it out. My dogs are both cross poodles, hypoallergenic dogs so do not shed hair. One is blonde all over, not a black hair in sight and the other, yes black, but too small to even reach the table let alone drop a hair in my food. The hair found was thick short and jet black, poodles hair are soft, wispy, long, and wavy, if not completely curled. If there was no explanation don't just assume, just be honest, an adequate response would have been "apologies for that inconvenience, we couldn't quite find the source but here's a new one, hope you enjoy"... And then a check back!! Safe to say I will not be eating there again, just due to the service! Like I say, usually a pleasant place, never had a complaint. But today they lost a regular customer.
Perfect ambiance and location near the lakeside of Craigieburn, approx 35 mins out of Melbourne CBD north side, is a great family Sunday morning breakfast location where you can stroll along the lake and admire the view, the food and coffee is 1st class all the way, defintley will return
