This place sucks. Beyond disappointed considering that I though it was a branch off the Blue Boar in Cobden who's food is fantastic. Not the case here. I've eaten here close to 8 to 10 times now with family or business meetings and I can expecting things to get better but instead it's getting worse. The service is terrible. The servers all seem to have attitudes and disappear for lengths of times without checking back with their tables. The food has never been good. I've had the pulled pork a few different occasions and it's always cold and dry. The wings are beyond salty, almost unbearable to eat. The only reason I give this place a star is because of the slaw which actually pretty tasty. If I'm forced to eat here I will but it will never be on a voluntary basis.
Lunch is a super light crowd but the service is great and the food was superb. Pulled pork sandwich was good but not as large a portion as some other places. The fries were hot and crispy and they offer both regular or spicy. The chow on the pulled pork was regular creamy but they also offer jalapeño flavored! Three kinds of sauce with one being nice and spicy without being overbearing.
First, getting here is ridiculous. Google maps couldn't even find it. By the time we finally figured out how to get there, everyone was good and hungry. The prices are way too high. Unless you are getting a $12 sandwich, plan on $18-20 a person, without a beverage or appetizer. So we order the $9 nachos. It's a tiny little paper boat of nachos with maybe 10-12 chips. The salmon was ice cold. The waitress told me after the fact that it's served cold. Ick. The $25 Man Platter was a small (SMALL) sample of 6 meats and 4 tiny ribs. The sides are $3 a pop and came in a little 1/2 cup styrofoam dish. My kids refused to eat the Mac and cheese because it was a grainy mess. The jalapeño slaw tasted like twigs in vinegar. How this mess ever got 4 Stars is beyond me.
I lurvvvvv this restaurant! When I go out to eat lunch, I almost always order some kind of salad. But I ate here with my daughter one afternoon at around 4 pm. We had a little trouble getting the attention of the hostess (bartender? , but we're finally seated. For some unknown reason (probably because I was hungry , I decided to order a hamburger. It was by far one of the best tasting restaurant burgers I've had in awhile. I asked for extra grilled onions and got them without a problem. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare . The fries were good as well. Since that time, I've eaten here several more times, even having my husband go out to get some and bring them home. I've also had there baby back ribs and pulled pork. Yum. I don't eat out much, but when I do, I try to get back here.
