Lovely NT gardens with friendly staff/volunteers. The gardens are beautiful and not too large to wander around. If you are feel like a bit of a challenge you can climb the winding wooden staircase to the tower. The views are spectacular and well worth the climb.
Visited twice, a fortnight apart and was impressed at the overlapping planting. Great tea room, very diligent regarding allergies. All staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Beautiful planting and architecture.
A lovely mix of formal and informal gardens, a good cafe/tea room/shop and a few other bits and pieces to look at like the Oast and barn. Although the NT-owned land is extensive (470 acres, I think? , the gardens themselves are on five acres and don't take too long to walk around. Probably a few hours' worth of visit for most people, but a very pleasant few hours indeed.
Beautiful garden, definitely worth a visit. The photos speak for themselves. Good to know: Paths are narrow and they have fenced off the grass with ropes, so you frequently have to squeeze into the plants to let people by. Personally, I felt the roped off grass was completely unnecessary. Wheelchair and buggy users really struggled getting around. Seating in the garden/woodland was a bit lacking. The cafe has lovely coffee and a decent amount of under shade seating. Unfortunately, not much in the way of food at 10.30/11am.
