Not quite up to the standard of some other nearby restaurants (e.g., Cafe de...l’Union in Crans and Auberge de la Gare in Celigny) but overall a very nice dinner.
We had a very warm reception from the manager of this traditional but spacious auberge, which has both local and Moroccan specialities. I was very happy with the vegan option of stuffed courgettes and aubergines with basmati rice. The mint tea and hand-made pastries were...particularly delicious. A really nice atmosphere at the foot of the Jura mountains. Well worth a visit.
We had a family dinner at the Auberge de l'Etoile, and did not stay in the hotel. The restaurant has a nice formal dining room as well as a bistrot type lunch/dinner room. Service was very friendly and attentive, except that the good bottle of...local Chardonnay that we ordered was kept in cooler away from the dining table and we had to ask for top up on various occasions. My main of Saint Pierre was good (perhaps a tiny overcooked), the filet de boeuf of my nephew and the pasta dish with chanterelles of my daughter were very good. My wife and my parents were very happy with their filet de veau. The crème brulée dessert was popular......
The management of Auberge de la Rippe is warm and welcoming. The menu includes several meat and fish selections, rich desserts and Swiss wines. Lunch is good value and there is usually a formule' or set lunch menu with three courses.
We always have a pleasure to return to this restaurant where the reception is very pleasant and the decoration of the neat tables. We took advantage of the seasonal suggestions. all the dishes flattered us both the eyes and the taste buds. We'll certainly be back.
