Recently stayed in Gargrave and collected a take away from restaurant Perfectly packaged for transport home and ready at agreed time Sadly food was mediocre- starters prawn on puri and chicken tikka were bland and lacked flavour Main course Mixed Grill similar, lacking in flavour Wouldn’t visit again based on this experience
Amazing little place! We come from skipton nearly every week and its always perfect. We always enjoy the popadoms and chutneys to start with and they have a really nice spicy relish which I haven't had anywhere else. The. For mains my wife and I share chicken jalfrazi and lamb saag which are always spot on. Big dishes as well so were always stuffed. Also the cheese naan is a must for us, topped with a massive amount of cheese. They have a nice selection of wines and even some from harrods and harvey nichols! Service on point as usual. If you haven't tried this place you're missing out.
I haven't been for a while as I am not very local but every time I come it's amazing as always. Came with a few friends who had never been before and they loved it. We were offered drinks straight away and yhey have cobra on the tap so we all had that. For starters I shared lamb chops and king prawns which were really nice. Then for the mains we also shared a few dishes; naga chicken, lamb dansak, shahi chicken (which was mince and chicken) and also daal. We had these with a garlic naan, and few types of rices. All in all we loved it and my friends said its one of the best they've ever had. The main portions were really good and we took the left overs home. It worked out to around £25 each for us which is good value considering we had drinks, popadoms, starters and mains and the village was quite posh. Service was really good we weren't rushed and the chaps were all super nice and answered any of our questions. Highly recommend visiting.
I had heard much about this place, so I was rather excited to try. Nice village. Nice building. Nice decor. That is where it ends. 13 of us diners club) arrived on time with pre-orders. So, they should have got it right. Food was staggered and slow. My king prawn starter was, I have to say, delicious, but tiny, for £11:00 I expected more. My friend who writes cook books btw) said it was the first time she had ever had to put salt on an Onion Bhaji. Bland, tasteless, burnt. Ripples of similar disappointment across the table. My main was simply average. Again, small portions. No knives and forks to eat with. We had to ask. As we did for drinks. And napkins. And sauces. Staff had to be asked to take away empty glasses and bowls that were filling the table. Again, food was staggered, with a couple waiting almost 15 mins longer for food, despite pre-orders. My chicken was tough and tasteless. Another friend had lamb, which he said “took some chewing”. Now the disappointment. Despite my main being over £20.00, I was charged £3.50 for a tiny dry chapati to accompany. To add insult to injury, I had a pint of soda water , from the pump not bottled), in fact I had 2. For which I was charged £8:00. For 2 glasses of water!!! I queried this. The response I got was to simply have the card machine pushed in my face with “ Please pay now”. I say that it was 2 glasses of water, basically. To which I got “ please pay now” with the card machine almost touching my nose. My fellow guests queried this. To which the response was …. Nothing. So, a small starter, a small and rather bland, luke warm, basic curry with a dry chapati and 2 glasses of water cost me £43.00. Be prepared for average food. Rude staff and being fleeced. I eat out 2-3 times per week. I am always happy to buy and enjoy whatever I fancy. I always tip. But not this time. Disappointed to say the least. I won’t be returning, as will a few of my friends who were equally as disappointed. I would avoid this place. There are many beautiful eating places all around this area. This is not one of them.
