Country Harvest - Craven

When we ordered the food we were told that certain items were not available ,due to a lack of produce , it’s a shop ? , then they had NO orange juice ? But there was a machine there with all the oranges ready ,...food on average , not parts cheap , will not be revisiting .

The staff in the cafe were very friendly. I ordered a rasher of bacon, one sausage, hash brown, tomato and mushrooms. It came looking nice fresh and hot, however, NO MUSHROOMS. The sausage was so obviously pre-cooked and warmed up; very dry, chewy and not...nice. My husband thought that it was probably from the day before. My husband had a beef sandwich which he enjoyed and said the bread was nice. When I went to pay I mentioned to the lady that served us that the mushrooms were missing, she went to go and alter the price, hesitated and turned to me and said it would still be the same price. I was charged £6.25 for mine, this was £1.25 per item, which obviously included the mushrooms. This just added salt to the wound. I know prices have gone up, places are struggling and we can accept that but to be deliberately over charged, regardless of by how much, is just a step too far. I would have been far better off ordering the full breakfast and wasting the items that I did not like, egg, beans, black pudding, toast etc... but hate wasting food. It's a shame, we won't be returning or recommending it, though it seemed popular with what appeared to be regulars?

Country Harvest is ideally located for a break in our regular journeys to and from the Lake District. We have enjoyed many meals over the years and can thoroughly recommend both the quality of the food and the service provided by the friendly staff! An...additional bonus are the food shop and the more general shop filled with clothes, games and additional items too many to list individually!

This is a regular stop because cakes are fantastic and generous in size. But last Sunday, the lady taking orders chose to chat to a friend for 15 minutes! Then apologised when she finally came to our table. Therefore she had been aware we were...waiting, but chose chat with a friend over doing her job. It was also a little chilly in the restaurant.

Shop had lots of choice and the restaurant was good for a coffee and cake particularly as it sold my favourite lemon meringue pie. Clean and bright great service.
