When food was recieved it was swimming in water where the pasta hadn't been drained. Food was cold. Gluten free options are minimal and half of the options not available. Drinks tried to order a cocktail and did not have a mixer for this.
After being turned away from ordering food at another Skipton pub (4 adults, 2 kids 6.30 thurs) the service couldn’t have been more different! The staff were great and the lovely chef even created a dish for my fussy 10 year old. Thank you for being so accommodating. You turned a bad situation round massively and we now know where to head first!!
We were looking for a place to watch a game after a busy day at work and the friendly staff at the bar toke the order, we carry our drinks to the table and after 15 minutes food was on the table! Super quick! Both asked for mix grilled and both steaks were cooked to perfection what was a surprise regarding that the place was packed and I could see meals flying out of kitchen constantly. No personal service, no one clear the plates until we left but they were under staff and for £38 a meal for 2 with a drink each was a bargain.
My husband and I booked for Christmas Day dinner in September. We had Christmas Day dinner at the pub previously in 2020 and enjoyed it so much we rebooked for 2021 (however, the latter visit was cancelled at short notice due to COVID/short staffing). The organisation regarding booking and making our menu choices this year was poor and caused me a lot of worry and stress. I booked in September and emailed our menu choices in October requesting an email to confirm receipt. I didn 't receive a response so phoned the pub 3 times, each time being told the staff would check the computer upstairs and call me back . There was a week between each time I called again as I allowed them time to get back to me. Then I had to call twice in one day, the final time, as the lady I spoke to said she 'd call me back in 5 minutes and 5 hours later I still hadn 't heard from her. I was finally able to confirm the menu choices.... only to then receive a call a couple of days later asking for our menu choices! I felt worried they wouldn 't know what we wanted for the day and I found it stressful trying to get a solid confirmation. In December my sister in law and her husband added on to our booking however, she was told to pay a £40 deposit (instead of £20) which she did but then discovered this is because the pub thought the booking was for 6 people instead of 4. Then I got a confirmation email of a £60 deposit being paid but for a booking for 2 people. On 23rd December as I was in the area I went in the pub in person to double check everything as I was concerned that the pub really weren 't clear at all what was happening. To my surprise they confirmed it all perfectly. On Christmas Eve I received a phone call to say a manager had taken one of the chocolate tortes home with them so the pub could only provide 2 portions of torte (our table had ordered 3) and one of us needed to choose something else. On the day the food was lovely (as per our previous visit) and the staff were friendly but I 'm extremely doubtful I 'd go again as something so simple became so unnecessarily stressful and that 's not an experience I 'd like to repeat.
The room was lovely and clean and very friendly staff felt right at home with my dog definitely stay again
