The Hilltop - Cross Plains

While I can appreciate a dimly lit dining atmosphere, when it’s too dark to read the menu, it's also too dark to see what's on your plate! Unfortunately, that was our experience last night with our group of six. Three of us ordered the prime rib, and it turned out to be the most gristly cut I have ever encountered. To make matters worse, the dull, outdated steak knives made the situation even more disappointing. One member of our party ordered the baked salmon, but due to the low light, he eventually discovered that the reason his salmon was lukewarm was that it was actually raw and cold in the center. On a positive note, the cheese ball at the bar was excellent, but not even all the cheese balls in the world could persuade me to return to this tired supper club.

The jumbo shrimp were indeed large and delicious. The cocktail prices were reasonable, and the service was fantastic. The fries were crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned.

Always fantastic! If you're looking for consistently excellent food, Hilltop is the spot for you. The filet and shrimp were cooked to perfection! The steak portions were generous, and the seasoning on the large shrimp was just right. Plus, I enjoyed an old fashioned that only a supper club can make!

Went with 9 other friends for our monthly supper club/fish fry night and it was incredible. Great drinks, fish fry and you definitely have to save room for the ice cream cocktails to end the night on. Randall, our server, was also sensational and the bartenders, while we waited for our table, were attentive and fast, especially with how busy it was on a Friday night. Will definitely return!

There are so many wonderful, delicious things about this family owned business, I don’t know where to begin. The Hilltop is a Supper Club in the truest definition. From the friendly hostesses, the bartenders speed and the servers efficiency is only topped by the chefs magic. First things first, a must have …an old fashion of course. They muddle the sugar cube with the goodness. Complimentary homemade cheese balls are set out at the bar on Friday and Saturday. They are also on the menu, so order 1 to take to your next party) My favorite menu item is the combo. A 6oz fillet and 4 shrimp. The filet is so tender, a butter knife will cut it! The shrimp can be ordered grilled, fried or bourbon glazed. Homemade soup, deserts and other goodies are amazing. You will leave here with a happy tummy and heart!
