I wanted to say thank you to Diego at the front desk for helping me get the perfect room so I could get to sleep after my long haul flight. Really appreciate it!!
We spent a couple nights here, Sept 8,9 and 10. It is a lovely building, entrance is beautiful. Single bed rooms are tiny and the bathroom even tinier. Certainly adequate but no one is doing calisthenics on the floor here. And if you sit on the toilet, you will probably have to remove the toilet paper roll because the pediatric sized toilet is smooshed between the sink and the wall. Double bed rooms are GREAT! Full sized everything. What really shined about The Boston Park Plaza was the staff. They are AMAZING! Everyone from check in, check out, restaurant people, housekeepers, valet and anyone else I may have missed, were truly FANTASTIC! Would we go again? YES! Just get a double bed set up. Great location, walkable to many things. Just a good experience all around.
Great hotel. Great lobby bar. The one big downfall was. I left my AirPods in the room and checked out. I went back to the hotel as I could see the location of them still there. Security brought me up to my room as they said house keeping didn’t turn anything in. No luck. 24 hours later I see the AirPods location leaving the hotel. I would think a hotel of this caliber would have staff that would be trustworthy enough to turn in lost valuables. Really disappointed in the lack of integrity within the housekeeping staff. Will not return.
This is a nice hotel with a historic feel. I don't know if you can say it's close to everything because it's Boston. And Boston is big, so no one place can make that claim. There are three or four restaurants and a full gym in the building. This was a great convenience. My room was small, and the bed was small. I'm 5.8ish, so if I'm saying small, then it's small. It seemed like a full rather than a queen. But anyway, it was sufficient. I didn't do much in the hotel, so there is nothing to elaborate on. It's was my first time in Boston, so I can't compare the hotel to any other there. so it was good enough. Chow.Rooms: Mine was very small. Open the door and hit the bed small.
If the rooms where just a little bigger...if the in-room coffee was just a little better...if the little shop in the lobby kept better hours. There are a lot of small IFs which keep this place from being more than a 4-star. However, I have now stayed there 3-4 times, and I strongly suspect I will be back...if for nothing more than the fantastic location. The rest of my review will be about restaurant (Off the Common) which is smack dab in the middle of the lobby, and I will be reasonably succinct. The bartenders are top-notch, but the table service needs some serious improvement. I suppose the wait staff feels the patrons are a captive audience, so WTH.With that said, the fried cod sandwich was incredible. It seriously might have been the best fish sandwich I have ever had. Extremely ample portion, and everything about it was top notch. The bun, the tomato, the lettuce, the tartar sauce, the French fries, the fish itself (which sure tasted fresh and not frozen)...all of it.If what I had is indicative of the kitchen's skill, Off the Common isn't just a good restaurant for a hotel. It is a good restaurant, period. Further, while I didn't have the breakfast buffet in the morning(s), the way I saw people attacking it suggested it must have been pretty tasty as well.Now...if they can only do something about the lackluster service.Food drinks: delicious
