Food has always brought us closer together, creating a sense of unity and tradition. Our meals often consisted of an array of dumplings, steamed buns, and savory stir-fries, each dish bursting with vibrant colors and enticing aromas. As a child, there was nothing more thrilling than the prospect of a delicious meal. And as an adult, that same excitement continues to live on within me.
I visited this restaurant specifically for the large soup dumplings that I've been wanting to try for a while. They take a long time to steam because of their size. Unfortunately, they made a mistake with our order for some of the other dumplings, so I recommend double-checking with them before your meal arrives. Overall, the food was decent and I would like to return to try other menu items. The giant dumpling was tasty, but be warned, the soup inside is very hot and can be difficult to drink with a straw.
I absolutely adore this Chinese Bistro. The cuisine is exquisite and the service has consistently been excellent. It is definitely my top choice for Chinese food in Crows Nest. Having traveled to China and Hong Kong numerous times, as well as dining at all the top Chinese restaurants in Sydney, I can confidently say that this Bistro is truly outstanding.
Been here a dozen times now. Edward and his wife are always happy to help and the food is the best. No need to head into Chinatown for dumplings now such delicious ones are available in Crows Nest! Amazing value too. I'll be back very soon and highly suggest you try them out.
Bistro Hulu is becoming one of my favorite casual Chinese restaurants in Sydney. On our latest visit, we ordered the fish maw and longan hotpot again (still as delicious), as well as the pan fried pork buns, steamed chicken with ginger and shallot sauce, vinegar pork ribs and cold sesame noodles. All were tasty and well cooked. The pan fried pork buns in particular, were more delicate and fluffier than the ones you get in Taste of Shanghai (but would prefer a bit more pork filling).<br/ Previous visit <br/ I was pleasantly surprised by Bistro Hulu. Though service was a bit distracted, the food was delicious. The menu seems to change regularly but I'd recommend the chicken, fish maw and longan hotpot. This had chicken pieces, Chinese cabbage and slices of fish maw in a flavoursome broth sweetened by dried longan. We also had the pork ribs with grapefruit, a twist on the classic sweet and sour pork with a citrus tang. The prawns with seasonal vegetables was not particularly memorable either way. And lastly, we rounded off the meal with a simple but tasty vegetable dish of stir fried morning glory (kangkung) with fermented tofu. Good spot for a mix of classic and inventive Chinese dishes.
