Depa Indiana - Croydon

The restaurant has relocated to Lower Addiscombe Road. Just call the same number. This is the best Indian takeout in Croydon, by far.

I ordered takeout last month on Eurovision Saturday night at 7:30 pm. I was aware that Depa was undergoing building work for the past 12 months as I walked past it twice a day. Even though the building work was ongoing, we continued to order takeout from their second restaurant, located a mile away. On Eurovision night, I could hear the phone being diverted to a different location. Despite placing my order at that location, I was informed that it would be delivered within 45 minutes. At 8:30 pm, I called again and was told that the food was on its way. By 9:00 pm, after waiting for 90 minutes with no sign of our order, I decided to cancel it as we were beyond hungry. My partner needed to get up early the next morning, so we went to bed without eating. The meal was finally delivered 10 minutes later, cold and unwanted, by a man who claimed to be the owner - someone I had never seen at Depa before. I wanted to caution other customers that Depa is now closed. I am unsure which restaurant is currently taking their orders, but the service is definitely not up to the same standard. I cannot speak to the quality of the food from the new restaurant since we did not eat any of it. I also felt deceived that the new restaurant did not identify itself when answering the diverted call from Depa. If they were busy, they should have been upfront about it so customers could make an informed decision about whether to wait or order elsewhere. Promising a 45-minute delivery time and then taking 100 minutes to deliver is not fair to customers.

Been going to this restaurant since I was a child. Still love it . Great food but the don't sell alcohol anymore.

This has always been my favourite Indian, but judging by my last order they either have a new chief or under new management. Either way the food on this occasion was poor and overall looked different. The meat samosas were inedible and from this experience I certainly won't be ordering from Depa Indiana again.

Delicious food. We tried 4 different meals and all of them were superb. Best in Town. Also the Manager was very friendly and very good service. I will come again when i next time will be in Croydon for CrystalPalace Football.
