It was lunchtime around 1:30, so I was surprised to see some tables still messy with aprons and clutter. I waited as I was hungry and asked about the menu, but was informed that curry goat was not available without any alternatives offered. Eventually, I ordered food for myself and my wife, but the lady taking the order completely ignored my wife. After about 10 minutes, the food was brought out in take away boxes, even though we had requested to eat inside. When we asked for plates, the lady became aggressive and started shouting at us, saying we should have specified our preference to dine inside. She continued to be rude and told us to leave. Overall, based on my experience and other negative reviews, I would recommend avoiding this "restaurant" at all costs.
As a first time customer, I was prepared to forgive them for the slow service, as their customer service at the time was fairly reasonable. However once I returned home, I realised how small the portion of meat was in the box. I dished it out thinking it may have been my eyes, but once on the plate it was even more evident that for £6.50 this was a very meager portion. I decided to call them and expected some defensiveness, but I wanted to let them know that the portion size could not go unnoticed. The owner refused to listen to me and asked me to tell her which restaurants would have given me a bigger portion and that she is 100% Jamaican. I ended the conversation when she began to swear at me. This restaurant is the reason why Jamaican restaurants get a bad reputation. It's such a shame back to Jam Rock (Thornton Heath) and Island Favourites (Norbury) I go. My advice is to take note of these reviews and stay away from restaurants that know nothing about respect for others, much less customer service. To the owner, no need to reply your comment about my blood was enough.
I have mixed reviews about this place, I really do. On the one hand, the food is excellent. Can 't fault it. It 's authentic Jamaican cuisine that is rare to find in London. We had the Jerk chicken dish which came with rice n peas, plantain, salad coleslaw. Very tasty and it had all the spices that a jerk meal SHOULD have. Cost around £10 each for the meal excluding drinks. BUT... If you 're looking for a restaurant in the traditional sense you may be disappointed. I would call Little MoBay a 'takeaway shop ' with a few chairs and tables, to be honest. For starters, it doesn 't look like a restaurant and can easily be missed on the high street. My friend walked passed the place several times before spotting it! Secondly, the menu didn 't have dessert (when we went). Would have been nice to have had a cake with ice cream or something to finish off our main. Thirdly, the toilet is at the back of the shop and not readily accessible for public use, in my opinion, which doesn 't help with that whole restaurant feel. Saying that, the place has a nice homely vibe to it, with reggae music blaring from the speakers and colourful decor including the Jamaican flag proudly flying near the window. SO...If you 're shopping in Croydon and need to stop off and have a quick bite to eat, then this is an ideal joint. If I was living nearby, I would use this as my local Jamaican takeaway. Hipsters my also like this place if they are looking for something authentic. BUT if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal, family gathering or traditional restaurant which you may expect from this part of Croydon then you may want to think twice.
Expected a lot more after reading some of the reviews here but was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Service was also average and we had to ask for our drinks after 5 minutes of waiting ordering it. My partner's meal choice was not available since they take online orders but we were not told for about 15 minutes ??? Food over priced too had a GREAT Caribbean meal the next day in Catford (BILL's restaurant) for about two thirds the price Staff (young girl) was very friendly and helpful but that makes no difference to me ...
We booked for birthday dinner for family to celebrate 80th . They decorated the tables put up balloons. The food was fresh , anything we asked for was no trouble . Proper West Indian food with great drinks, from fruit punch , Guinness punch white rum. Fantastic service , they even surprised us with a rum birthday definitely be back again
