Ossies Fish Chips - Croydon

Until about a year ago, this was the best restaurant in Croydon. The quality of the food, the service, and the customer service were impeccable. Since Ossie handed over control to someone else as he and his brother are opening a new shop on the coast, I'm afraid this will be my last visit here. Sorry, mate.

I visited this restaurant for the first time under new ownership and was not let down. The service was exceptional on a busy Friday night, and the food was top-notch. I plan on returning in the future.

I entered the restaurant to order some fish and chips for myself. The young man working at the counter asked a staff member (a young girl in her early 20s) to complete some orders. When she was almost finished, he started shouting at her and reprimanding her in front of customers. It was very unprofessional and his attitude was appalling. I was absolutely disgusted by his behavior and I hope that the young girl was okay.

We stopped going here after it was taken over as it seemed to have gone down a bit. However we thought we’d try it tonight as it’s been a while. Seems like it has new management again. The chips were really lovely and it was a huge portion, plus mushy peas. So glad we gave it another try! We will definitely be back again.

Fish was very large cod and beautifully cooked with big flakes and crisp ends. This took about 8 minutes. The chips were tasty. Salt and vinegar added by Server. Then chips alone wrapped up ? , then the fish separately ! . Both almost mummified by wrapping paper.and put in a takeaway handled paper bag. portions very generous size. No tables in restaurant anymore. Only seats for punters waiting. Take away business only now. No idea why!!!! But a wall opposite and a sunny bench seat diagonally opposite, and tramstop very close by. On the Beckenham and Elmers End bound lines. Left of Brothers kebab from tram exit. I have had two t/a fish and chips since summer 2021 loosening of restrictions and been inpressed both times. Did not notice any change from before except table removal
