Our pizza, bacon (something like Prosciutto) with Brie and Arugula was near perfection (perfect is a HIGH bar), and the risotto that we had as a compliment was a really gourmet surprise. Pizza was good for the last bite of really roasted crust. The free Bruschetta served with two excellent selections of marinated herbs, aubergines and sorted treats was a delicious surprise that our palate begging to be patient for what to come. The restaurant has a low key, a family Italian atmosphere and Davide, the Milanese owner, was as welcoming and friendly as you could hope. Our server was attentive and thoughtful. Oh, I mentioned that prices seemed pretty reasonable. All in all a very, very satisfying first visit. We'll try other things again.
My dear companion and I were shvitzin' for a pizza after having spent two months on the coast of Ecuador, where they serve only rice, beans, chicken or parasite cheeks. We went first to PIZZALACQUA, but they were closed, so we turned around and went back to this here pizzeria, for which you read the review. I can't talk to the quality of PIZZALACQUA now, but I was sure we were turned around and ended up here at the end because Restaurante Pizzería Mediterráneo turned out to be the best pizza place I've ever visited in my entire life. After we moved the tables several times and finally found our place of the tedious old grin gas that raised the street view, we admired the Italian aesthetics of the place, and tasted a free sorpresa: a fabulously delicious appetizer of bread and three exquisite “sauces” – an eggplant, a pico, and a semi-spicy little red sauce. I was already in love with this place and we hadn't even ordered it. We decided to start a salad, and it got high marks on the whole board: presentation, taste, consistency. It had tuna, egg, olives, tomatoes and the favorite carrot grass I've ever seen. Usually I wouldn't go for a tuna salad, but this one had hacked me like a tuna from the beginning to the end. What our Pizza Piee-¡MA-effin-MIA! - perfectly prepared, cooked and presented. The pizza had olives and anchovies worked nicely in the perfectly melted, non-strong cheese. The crust was also right: a little dry, a little bit mild, but crispy and crispy and in places black. And given the abundance of appetizers, we had some extra small treats on our crusts to plopen. We ordered a middle cake that simply filled us perfectly, but our wonderful waiter “unusual” made us a big cake and only accused us for the medium! So we need to take some slices home and enjoy them later. Overall, we enjoyed excellent service and exquisite food in a very beautiful environment, and it didn't cost us even thirty dollars. Well, I know this is a brightuvalot more than the $1 slices you see everywhere in Cuenca, and they can also be pretty good; but sometimes you need to treat yourself this beautiful Bougie Pizza time. If you want a cake for age, go to Restaurante Pizzería Mediterráneo. The name is not so great, but he tells you what you get, and what's in a name? ¿Qué diablos quiere decir PIZZALACQUA? Water pizza? Forget it.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! You think you're in Bella Italia. I can recommend Pasta, Pizza and the incredible Tiramisu. For all Italian food lovers, this is the perfect place for you!
Great food and service. Had the salad primavera and a Margherita pizza. Both were exceptional. Came with complementary garlic bread with salsas. The pizza was definitely in the top-5 I've ever had. Highly recommend it. (Probably go back there at least one more time before leaving Cuenca.
Excellent pizza and great atmosphere — a real Italian restaurant.
