A cab company was quoting us 15 dollars each way to take us (2) and so we called the owner of the restaurant and he offered to pick us up for 10 dollars round fare. We had the seafood platter ( shrimp, lobster, scampi, grilled fish, octopus and lambabi?) for 2. The service and ambiance were lovely. After dinner we sat by the rail watching the wave and lightning storm off in the distance and finished the wine we had with dinner. The next thing we knew we were brought liqueurs on the house - a licorice flavored drink that the owner makes himself. Wonderful evening - much recommended!
Four of us went to this restaurant based on other Trip Advisor reviews. It was the worst food any of us ever ordered. The shrimp bisque was like gravy. The seafood platters' contents were unidentifiable, the shrimp were rubber. The Kraft parmesan cheese used to make the caeser dressing could have at least been disquised as something better and we're pretty sure the grouper was not, maybe trout?? There are other great places like Casa Denis and Kinta. Skip this waste of money and calories.
The lobster was to die for and the prices were fair. I have never had better Lobster anywhere. The decor is comfortable and we wore shorts and tshirts. The cocktails were very strong and I would definitely recommend this restaraunt if you want great seafood.
First off, every single local we spoke to told us to eat here. That is a good sign but a lot to live up to. My lady and I are "self ordained" foodies. We both cook, and have worked in the restaurant business for a long time. When the cab dropped us off, and we took a peek inside, we were a little leery. The inside is sea blue, and didn't look like anything you would think twice about if you walked by. We forged forward, and thank god! It felt authentic. The prices were fair, and the food was stellar. I got the shrimp cocktail for an app, as the waiter recommended. I was hesitant, because shrimp cocktail is shrimp cocktail. This came out in a giant glass filled with shrimp. There must have been 15 in there, and nice sized. They were surrounded by a spicy tomato broth. It looked like a giant **** mary. She got a Cesar, which was ok. What did we get for the entrée? Two words and two words only you need know. Lobster Thermador. It was savory and succulent. The frozen drinks were large, strong, and made with high grade booze. Our drinks were so good; I got up and gave the bartender 10 bucks in the middle of my meal. This place is well worth it. Go.
My husband and I ate at Capi Navigante on a recent trip (May 2008) to Cozumel. We chose it based on recommendations we read on the Trip Advisor forums and some Cozumel websites. The restaurant was easy to find. The wait-staff were helpful and friendly and did speak English. It was not crowded and there were locals as well as tourists like ourselves there. They have a mariachi group stopping by the tables to sing-very pleasant. My husband ordered a seafood -based soup, (sorry, can't remember the name) and I ordered the lime soup. Both were excellent. For the main course, my husband ordered the grouper and I had the Capi shrimp (grilled and with garlic). The meals were delicious. For dessert, we shared a flan, which was wonderful. We found the prices reasonable. With drinks, soup, main meals and 1 dessert, it was around $70 UDS. (I think the bill was given to us in pesos and we paid in pesos-can't remember the amount in pesos). We had a very good dining experience there and would recommend this restaurant to anyone for a great seafood dinner. We will definitely be back here to eat on our next trip to Cozumel.
