The kids' noodles were dry and lacked sauce as well. The chicken looked like it came from a cafeteria. The only thing I attempted to eat was the rice, but I found a hair at the bottom. I want a refund and will not be returning to this establishment. This is unacceptable, and I’m extremely disappointed!
The restaurant is beautiful both inside and out. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and offered the choice of Habachi or dine-in. I chose to dine in since it allowed me to write this review a bit more discreetly. However, I did notice an odd aroma in the air when I was escorted to my table; it could have been a lingering cleaning product or something else. It was a little off-putting, but I figured it might be due to the restaurant cleaning up after a busy period, as there were only two or three tables occupied at the time. My server was prompt in providing menus and taking my drink order. I requested water while I perused the diverse menu offerings. They have a solid selection of dishes, although many appeared to be on the pricier side, setting high expectations for the quality of the food. I ordered their take on a Long Island Iced Tea, along with a vegetable rice dish and a California Crunch sushi roll. The iced tea was perfect—just the right strength for my taste! However, compared to other Long Island Iced Teas I've had at different restaurants, I found it wasn't as robust for the price. When I pay a premium, I expect the quality to match or exceed my expectations. While it suited my preference, it might not satisfy those who typically enjoy a stronger cocktail with their meal, especially at nearly $10. On the other hand, the sushi was outstanding! It’s clear that making sushi is one of their specialties, so if you’re in search of quality sushi rolls, this is definitely a spot to consider. The quality matched the price, which I appreciated. Overall, I had a good experience at Kani and would recommend it for sushi lovers!
The service was quite slow. While we waited for a table, we decided to have a drink at the bar. However, even though the bartender walked by us several times, he never acknowledged our presence. On a positive note, the hibachi chef was entertaining, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, our server took a long time to bring our beverages—my husband received his water only after we had already moved on to the second course.
I stopped by to pick up lunch to go and ordered the chicken hibachi. Honestly, it ranks among the top five hibachi meals I've ever had, even as takeout. The sauces were all delicious and packed with flavor. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Cumming. Despite some previous reviews, I believe this place is worth a try, especially for lunch. You can’t beat a complete hibachi meal for just $12, including tip!
Be sure to request Ivan as your cook and don't forget to tip him! We had dinner here tonight and the food was fantastic. It was a dinner for two, and he truly put on a show for us. The dishes were expertly prepared, the drinks were strong and enjoyable, and the place was spotless.
