Zipang - Currumbin Waters

I am Japanese and would like to tell my experience at this restaurant.I had a dinner there about 3weeks ago and that was our second visit to this restaurant. I had a good time at our first visit but the second time was quite unpleasant.I ordered a beef yakiniku that is served in a bowl of rice. The beef yakiniku was just VERY SAULTY and the rice was soaked in the salty sauce. I am usually ok with hot/salty food but it was beyond my limit. I called a female floor staff and politely explained that I cannot keep eating as the dish was too salty. I didn’t want to sound rude so I politely asked like “It is tasty but it is a bit salty for me. I can probably enjoy the taste if I can have “a little bit” more rice in the bowl. If I have to pay for that, I will.” She then said ”Ok, you need an extra rice, don’t you?”. I was very surprised with her reaction. She even didn’t pay attention to the customer’s voice – I was polite, but all I was saying is that “too poor taste to keep eating this dish”.She brought a normal size of extra rice (it is quite big, not small amount at all) and charged me $3 or $4 for the rice at the end. If you care of what customer says, you shouldn’t pursue your profit but try to make the customer happy by offering some help or making some adjustments. She didn’t talk to a chef as well as wasn’t apologetic. We thought they were only pursing profit rather making diners happy and satisfied. I never go back to this stingy restaurant again.

Food was great and lots of variety to choose from . We shared everything so tried many dishes. Will come back. Highly recommended

We have eaten in and had takeout the quality stays the same. Great spot for casual dining but it's popular because it's so good

We love to come in on a Friday evening at 5.30 and enjoy a couple of Tapas meals and a main course each. The Sashimi with onion marmalade is always fresh and delicious, and I always have the Gyuzu soup with superb dumplings and aromatic stock filled with simmered vegetables. We've tried nearly everything on the menu over the past 2 years that we've been coming here, and have loved everything. The location is tucked into the car park of a local shopping centre and the furniture is basic but it all adds to the atmosphere of casual Local eating.

So friendly and absolutely amazing food. Never disappoints. Its BYO, but there's a bottle shop right next door. Remember to book, as its often full.
