Joe Schmoes - Cypress

3.5 I have mixed feelings about this place. Have frequented this place quite a bit lately. I have ordered several Friday meals recently (for me and family) and it's been OK. I think I ate too much of their junk food last night (husband got the onion rings and I had about 1/3 of them). The Sammy And rings did not agree with me so well (stomach ache last night as well as in the morn). I wish I had the same onion ring experience at reviewer BONNIE! That sounds awesome! Ambience: Yesterday, it was strangely quiet when we ordered our foods at the counter. The dining room seemed empty for a Saturday eve. I was surprised that more wasn't happening there. Update: This afternoon hubby mentioned that last nights meal gave him indigestion. I guess I was not the only one in the household whose innards were not agreeing with schmoe food. Did they use new brand of oils in their cookers? Or different product/ingredients? We usually get the same things every time.

Food was OK, nothing special. Servers were nice enough at the register. We tried a variety of things. A bacon cheeseburger, chicken strips, Nashville chicken sliders, hot dog, fries, chili cheese fries, custard, and onion rings. The onion rings were good but the rest nothing to write home about. Not bad at all, just pretty basic. I'd give it a 3 on the food alone. We did have a couple issues. With all that food, they gave us one side of ranch. I was specifically asked what sauce I wanted with multiple items. I said ranch for each, and even said extra please. We got 1. I asked for more and they gave me the tiniest side of ranch I've ever seen. As in, not even enough for one chicken strip. I asked for more and was given 1 more. I just let it be, because I didn't want to be that guy. As we passed the food out, we realized they forgot the comeback sauce for the Nashville sliders. Again, whatever, I'll roll with it. But then we realized the bacon cheeseburger came out as a plain cheeseburger. The guy asked when I ordered if I was fine with everything on it, and I said yes plus pickle. So it's not that he misunderstood me. I took it back to the front to point it out and they said they'd fix it. OK, cool. With the other food already there, everyone else was eating. I tried some of everything waiting for the burger to be brought back out. Everyone else finished their meal, I nibbled on what they didn't finish. I even got up and ordered the kids one of their concrete custards while we waited, and they ate that. All while waiting for the burger. We were getting up to leave when the burger was brought out. The guy said sorry but I dont know what took 20 minutes to make another burger when there was only one other table occupied and they already had their food. Mistakes happen but a few issues and the timing of it all was very disappointing.

Love this place! Great food with enough choices for my picky eater, healthy eater and beer drinker! Sports on every TV so the boys are always happy to go to joe's! Staff are friendly and this restaurant is super clean!

So I'll be honest, when they first opened, I gave them a kinda bad review. I didn't like their fries and got a bit of attitude when i was ordering. I am here to take that back. Big time. I don't know where to start. This is comfort food you've been looking for. The hot dogs and the frozen custard is all I've tried as its hard to get something else, even tho it all looks and sounds so good. Well played Joe's. I hope you guys stick around for a long time. No expectations, I had the best crunchy onion rings EVER at @schmoes_joe in CYPRESS, CA! Best part, it remained crunchy delicious even 2 hours later! The crunchy texture and sound is so satisfying. No ketchup is required and it is seasoned well! Even the onion inside was the right type of thickness. #joeschmoescypress just really knows how to create and fry up the most perfect tray of onion rings!
