Great selection of Vietnamese food. Every dish was great
We ventured here on advice from Lonely Planet. Accordingly, we found we were accompanied predominantly by other tourists. Starting with a deliciously complimentary Artichoke tea, service at Trong Dong was friendly and welcoming. The Grilled Shrimp Paste DIY rice paper rolls, an entree served on a sugarcane skewer, were fresh and tasty while the Special Salad, allegedly a local favourite made with Lotus flowers, shrimp and beef, was just okay. Our Fish Claypot comprised of fish portions in a shallow broth served with steamed white rice. I tasted lemongrass, a little chili, fish sauce, sugar and soy in the mildly sweet broth. The fish used was of the fatty kind; our only critical observation. For me, Trong Dong was a pleasant lunch experience albeit a little over-hyped. Stop in if you're nearby but don't be too upset if you miss it.
I ate here twice during my stay, the menu selection is huge and the quality of food great with attentive service. Highly recommended.
Solid but small restaurant. Meals are tasty, don’t expect ‚overwhelming‘. Overall good and fair. Would come back.
