The only downside was the portion size of the salmon I ordered. I opted for the protein with two sides, but the salmon serving was disappointingly small, probably only around three ounces. Despite the delicious Brussels sprouts and broccoli, the small portion of salmon made the meal seem overpriced. Other than that, everything else was really enjoyable.
When you have a specific dietary lifestyle, dining out at a restaurant can be a challenge. Typically, I call restaurants in advance to inquire about their ability to accommodate my needs. However, when it comes to Flower Child, I never have to worry. They are extremely attentive to their customers' various dietary requirements. My most recent experience was truly outstanding. On this particular evening, I was craving something warm and substantial, not just a regular salad. When I mentioned to the cashier, Harrison, that I wanted stir-fried kale with salt, pepper, onions, and garlic, he immediately called for Chef Henry. Chef Henry came out and discussed my dietary restrictions with me. He agreed to prepare a custom dish for me, off the menu, at the same price as a regular bowl. He mentioned how much he enjoys creating unique dishes based on customer requests like mine. It's wonderful to be able to dine at a restaurant where I can eat well, enjoy a healthy and satisfying meal, and have customized dishes made without any hassle. The dish Chef Henry prepared for me consisted of zucchini, bok choy, celery, carrots, dinosaur kale, and onions seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon, placed on a bed of arugula and topped with a whole lemon and a salt-seasoned avocado dusted with coconut flakes. It was absolutely delicious!
If you're looking for a change from fast food, this restaurant is a good option. It may be a bit expensive, but they are the only place in the area that offers this type of cuisine. I tried the tofu with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, which was good but not amazing. The portion of tofu was quite small. The service was top-notch. However, my main issue is that they do not enforce social distancing guidelines during the pandemic. At lunchtime, the place gets very crowded with people waiting in line.
Good quality food, great service, but some items can be on the pricey side. Plenty of options for carnivores, vegans, vegetarians, etc. Make sure you check the nutritional info on their web site before you go. It’s certainly healthier than a lot of other options out there, but if you’re watching things like sodium, etc., pay close attention. My *favorite* item on the menu is the Thai Dye Wrap $9.95). Spicy tofu, avocado, shredded carrots, radish, basil, cilantro, some snap peas, and smothered in some sort of Thai chili paste this might be what the tofu is cooked in. The tofu is cooked ok, a little soft but not too bad. The wrap itself is very soft, light and fresh. The wrap is whole wheat with flaxseed and I think chia seed. My second favorite menu item is the Glow Bowl $9.95). By default, it comes with no protein items, but you can add any protein item to it for an extra charge. This is another spicy dish that I appreciate. It’s mainly spicy sweet potato noodles that may sound weird to some, but they are mighty tasty, and the combination of sweetness and spicy is a PERFECT balance. The ONLY thing I am disappointed in with this dish is the lack of Shiitake mushrooms. I love my mushrooms, but these seem to be chopped up pretty small, so it’s hard to see them or even taste them. They can also skimp on the jalapenos at times. Vegan Massaman Curry plenty of jalapenos, for a good kick. It includes HUGE chunks of roasted sweet potatoes, spaghetti squash, and toasted cashews. The toasted cashews give it great texture and a decent crunch. You can also choose to build your own combo you choose your protein and then select two sides. Steak $14.25) is cooked medium. The chicken $12.95) is cooked and seasoned VERY well. It’s white meat, juicy, and very tasty. *They are taking very good precautions during COVID times, but there can still be a line out the door at lunchtime during the work week. *Use their app or their website to order ahead for pickup. You pay online, and then wander inside and find your order on a shelf with your name on it and then RUN!!! *Yes, they have wine and beer you’re welcome for that tip I should have added that first).
Absolutely Amazing! Great food and the servers were awesome. Even when we switched tables without asking. Tremendous location! Definitely check it out and try the sweet corn quinoa.
