The Dram - Dallas

Before coming to Dallas from Toronto, I was told that I had to try a local specialty: Chicken Fried Steak. After exploring various restaurants, I discovered The Porch. My Uber driver assured me that this was the place to go. From the first bite, I could tell that it was heavenly! The breading was similar to what you find in fried chicken recipes, but then you taste the flavors of a juicy steak. The gravy was unlike anything I had ever tasted before and added another layer of flavor to an already delicious dish. The mashed potatoes were a pleasant surprise, slightly sweeter than what I'm used to. A local Texas beer was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The staff greeted me with a big smile and provided amazing service from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. If you have never tried Chicken Fried Steak, this is the place to do it. I took a break from shopping on Knox and decided to try The Porch since it was nearby. It wasn't busy at 1:30pm on a Saturday and the food was served quickly. The Porch Salad with Chicken and the Crispy Chicken Cobb Salad were delicious. We also tried a classic Mojito and Moscow Mule, but felt the Mule could have been stronger - maybe they forgot the shot? The Gooey Butter Cake was a definite must-try!

I had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant! I decided to try the salmon sandwich with arugula and aioli, even though I usually don't like aioli. But I have to say, it was delicious! The Porch exceeded my expectations. The cocktails were well-made and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was happy. I will definitely be returning!

Loved dinner here! Our server, I believe his name was Jason, was really great and all the food and drink were delicious. Would definitely come back!

The food was good, nice portion sizes and we had an awesome waiter named Dylan. We look forward to visiting again
