When I inquired about it, they mentioned it began in November, but there’s no mention of it anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. It feels like just another way to nickel-and-dime customers. The service has always been mediocre. While the cheesesteak is good, the fries taste stale, as if they've been sitting under the heat lamp for hours.
Pros: generous portions, speedy service, nice presentation. Cons: overpriced, underseasoned meat, bland texture, tasted reheated, paid parking, sketchy location, terrible atmosphere. I visited for lunch with a friend and tried the goat cheese and bacon club as well as the slow-roasted pork sandwich. Both tasted like they had been made the day before and simply warmed up! Such a disappointing experience for such a highly rated establishment. The goat cheese was the only redeeming quality of the first sandwich. The bread was soggy, the tomatoes were cut too thick, the bacon was low quality, and the cucumbers felt like an unnecessary garnish. Even the fries seemed reheated. The pulled pork was sadly dry, especially for a rub-based meat. There was no sauce, no marinade, and no unique seasoning whatsoever. It felt very uninspired. This is clearly more of a bar than a restaurant. In summary: either I happened to visit on an off day, or this place is indeed mediocre with inflated reviews from bar patrons. Edit: I returned to see if it was just a fluke, and the experience was the same the second time around. Don’t waste your time or money here.
This casual and reasonable spot in Deep Ellum is a nice place to enjoy a sandwich and a beer. We tried several items, and I had the chicken cordon bleu along with a couple of beers. The beers were inexpensive and served cold, just the way they should be! The portions were generous, but the sandwich was merely average; it could have really benefited from some Dijon mustard to elevate it.
While the exterior may not be impressive, the food was incredibly tasty! The draft beer selection is limited, but they offer excellent vegetarian choices, including an Impossible Burger. It's also very kid-friendly, with plenty of space available.
The best Cuban sandwich I've ever had! The staff was incredibly friendly, the prices were fantastic, and the location is in a lively area. We'll definitely be returning!
