Ate here while visiting Dallas with a few Japanese co-workers, they were impressed. The food was excellent and the service was top tier (ask for Jesse). I've added this place to my must go whenever in Dallas list.
Thank you Jesse for the wonderful dining experience!!!
Great little restaurant on Greenville. I have been here multiple times for special occasions. I recommend making a reservation to avoid the long wait times on the weekend since they are very popular.Once we entered we were greeted by the host and was sat promptly. Our server came by and greeted us and gave us the rundown of their concept and menu. We always order the signature tasting and have never been dissatisfied. My personal favorites are the kobe beef, sukiyaki, and A5 wagyu, but as of 2024 it looks like they don't serve the kobe beef anymore : .The only drinks we ordered were the lychee martini and it was amazing as well.
After visiting Japan a few times I had been really craving Japanese BBQ.Manpuku didn't quite scratch that itch, mainly stemming from management/service problems. We came on a Saturday for lunch and the whole experience was pretty bad. Not a complete disaster, but just insanely slow. I felt bad because they basically had 1 waiter for 4 tables and a large party of ~10 people. The bartender was frantically doing setup/cleanup that should have been done before opening, 2-3 other people just chatting and not helping at all, the owner seemed to be clueless and also not helping. We had to call the front door hostess to even order our food because the waiter was busy tending to the large party most of the time.So the time frame was roughly:10 minutes for a proper greeting after being seated20 minutes waiting for answers to our questions, then giving up and ordering with the hostess40 minutes waiting for a few pieces of uncooked raw meat to be served so we can cook it. This should really take no longer than 5 minutes. The wait was 100% unacceptable by any possible standard. To top it all off, we ordered some of the garlic udon noodles to be an appetizer, we had to wait another 10-15 minutes AFTER cooking and eating all of the meat before we got the noodles served. The excuse we got was that they didn't expect people to show up for lunch, and the wok/cookware takes a a few hours to heat up, plus noodles are usually served there as a post-meat treat and aren't intended to be an appetizer/side dish. It's a shame because the food quality was top notch and I would love to eat there again, but the high prices combined with bottom tier management doesn't make a compelling argument for me to return.
