Great vibes. Great location.<br/ Had cappuccino coffee along wild mishroom pancetta, both dishes were good and well prepared.<br/ Good place for brunch : <br/
169 Darlinghurst is just a stone's throw away from the famous Coca Cola sign in Kings Cross. Despite the convenient location, this corner lot has experienced plenty of churn in recent years (Awkward Bar, Good Will Society but hopefully 169D will be able to break the streak and flourish. Brunch was a laid back affair with a mix of healthy and decadent menu options. The brown rice bowl came with asparagus, a beautifully wobbly 63 degree egg and a smear of miso(? paste. My friend added a side of juicy grilled mushrooms and really enjoyed the dish. The kale salad was generous tumble of kale, thin slices of pear and kipfler potatoes. This was another winner. I ordered the pork loin sandwich which arrived with paper thin slices of pork, rocket, fried shallots and a sweet (fig? jam. While the whole flavour combination was good, I would've ordered something else had I known the meat would be scarce. Last dish for the table was the brioche French toast. A heavy drizzle of honey and mound of Tonka bean cream definitely shoved this squarely in the Bressert category. I wasn't enamoured with the Pablo Rusty beans but it was decent enough. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu which looked delicious when they were being brought out to other diners.
Breakfast in Darlinghurst is a difficult decision, with so many choices available. We wandered around and found 169 Darlinghurst sitting on a sunny corner beckoning us. We just had to go in. <br/ We started with our usual coffee's and soaked up the morning sun streaming in through the ornate windows. It was very relaxing and everything seemed to just feel calm and relaxed. We also used the time to study the menu and make our choices. The coffee was good too with plenty of people simply dropping by to grab a take away brew.
Good food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The place can get a bit loud with the traffic outside. Love the bottomless brunch!
