This charming little restaurant is situated in a picturesque location and offers delicious food with excellent service. The only drawback is that hotel pool users often frequent the restaurant, creating a busy and crowded atmosphere. It would be beneficial to have a separate entrance for restaurant guests to avoid the inconvenience.
I absolutely loved the peaceful setting, delicious food, and excellent service at this restaurant. After having tea elsewhere on our first night in Darwin, we decided to give Lemongrass a try. From that point on, all of our evening meals during our stay in Darwin were at Lemongrass. Linda, our hostess, is a lovely woman who takes great care of her guests.
I ate here as part of the free breakfast of the Argus Hotel Darwin. The restaurant is small and has a nice feeling at the first entry. Breakfast was very, very simple. A small L-shaped area with a selection of spreads (no honey), margarine (no...butter), empty dishes I suspect would have kept fruit or pastries... in fact, pastries would have been too much of a stretch. The restaurant is quite small, no problem in and by itself, but only half of the tables were available to sit because the guests were quite rudely instructed that they were not sitting at a table that contained a table cloth. As a result, all diners were jammed an end of the restaurant. A guest tried to sit at a table with a tablecloth and he was quite rude to sit at another table. He asked for service with a smile and he was advised No smile for you. After this exchange, the owner continued to approach other diners and commented on the boldness of the other diner... very unprofessional and created a very unpleasant atmosphere for those who try to have a right breakfast. No water was available, but you could ask for it. A lack of labelling leads to confusion about what was, for example, full fat against skimmed milk. Tea and coffee were not immediately limited to an equivalent or sugar substitute. The spreads were provided at the main table, no individual serves to take back to your table. Only one knife was provided for each condition, i.e. you need to use the knife used by the previous diner etc. In the 45 minutes I was there, there seemed no restocking of stocks. As a result there was no fruit and juice was so low she could not pull out of the container. As a rule, the initial impression was quite graceful, but in reality it was a very cheap attempt to get a free breakfast for guests who are in a 4 star hotel. At check-in you are recommended A light continental breakfast is served daily; It is a shame that the quality of service in the restaurant is not where provided near the kindness and quality of the Argus. Because of this experience, I would not return for a paid meal.
Fantastic authentic and yummy meals. Have tried many of the mains and they have all been great. Tasty, right portion size, fresh and great value. Highly recommended
