Visited the White Swan at Holcot several times with family and friends. We are always made welcome by the caring owners Hayley Martin competent smiling Hanna and the lovely local natives. Great pint of Guinness and good selection of beers, ciders, lagers, wines Spirits. A good village pub worth visiting.
Having decided at the last minute to change our plans I was delighted the Henry was able to find us a table for two. From the minute Olly greeted us it was obvious we were in a delightful gastro pub and we extremely well looked after by Jasmine and a very charming waitress called Izzy. Good was fabulous-especially the glazed plum tart. Of course the venue is only part of a perfect evening and being in stunning company may well have influenced my goodwill! A fabulous evening which o hope to repeat very soon.
Sunday lunch today, new people in charge so thought we would give it a go. Brilliant food before so a lot to live up in our opinion. Anyway , friendly welcome no issues there..... Then comes the food..... Sunday lunch menu nothing else. One pork and one Turkey ordered as no chicken available. Menu states that all things are made fresh , thus was not the case at all. The roast potatoes and parsnips and Yorkshire pudding were all out of the freezer. Tasteless broccoli , carrots and cauliflower all boiled to a watery taste. Gravy was actually ok but not enough. Meats were average but nothing like the old chef lee would serve up. A real shame to the village pub and the people who travelled to eat lees food.
This pub is a quintessential English establishment, recently renovated and operated by a charming family. They offer a great selection of bitters on tap, including Timothy Taylor Landlord, as well as Guinness and lager. In the winter, you can cozy up by the roaring log fire, and in the summer, you can enjoy their outdoor seating area with options for shade or soaking up the sun. The locals are friendly and it's a perfect spot to unwind after a visit to Pittsford reservoir. Plus, they welcome dogs!
