Deadwood is known as the place where Jack McCall shot Wild Bill Hickok while he was playing poker in a saloon. I began my visit at the Welcome Center. You can park for free here and thehistoric area is just an easy walk away. Be sure to talk to the employees at the Welcome Center as they can give you greatinsight into just about every aspect of the Historic Town. Be sure to pick up a map, it will make life a lot easier. Once inhistoric town you will find several restaurants, casinos, shops, each with its own old west them. The one thing that added to myenjoyment was that all the casinos and restaurants were smoke free and really catered to tourists. Now most of the town burnedto the ground a few years ago after Wild Bill was shot, so you must understand that none of the building were the ones here in1876. None the less, the historic part of Deadwood has capitalized on is old west notoriety. I stopped at the original site ofthe #10 Saloon, which was where Wild Bill was shot while holding the Dead Man?s Hand of aces and eights. I was able to just walkin and watch the reenactment of Jack McCall shooting Wild Bill. It was definitely entertaining and worth seeing. After thereenactment, I had lunch here. Everybody was associated with the saloon was great and the food was really good. I even got tomeet Wild Bill who stopped by to visit while I was eating. I enjoyed my visit to the #10 Saloon and to the Historic Town ofDeadwood.
Stayed in deadwood for a few days and this is was our watering hole for the time we were in town. Dan the bartender was great. Very friendly and attentive. Travis who plays wild bill is just as awesome. His reenactment is worth watching. Not onlyentertaining but very informative as well. A major must for adults looking to get out of the heat and have a cold beer or liquorespecially if you like whiskey. They have 220 different whiskey, bourbons, and scotches. Not to mention all the other liquor youcommonly find behind a bar. This is the only place I?ll drink from here on out when I?m in deadwood.
This place has the Westwood vibes that we were looking for. Genuine Western vibes on the prairies. The staff were friendly, but the mena toilet stalls are missing a door in case you need to drop your... Stress
Was told the round of 2 Busch Light was $8. Opened a tab. Sat quietly at the bar. Had two more. Bill was $32. Queried it. Was told it was $8/drink. Had to pay on card so suffered the 3% card charge. Tipped on a $32 bill. Go back 2 nights later it’s $8 for 2, as originally told. So yeah. Great bar. Cool setting and great live music from talented musicians. But that was annoying.
I went there for a book signing at the Saloon Ten Mercantile. It was great to meet the two authors! Chris Enss Geri Jewell!
