Lunch, table for 2. Chose it because many others were already eating, so we thought that might mean the food was good. And it was. Chose hamburgers for a change from seafood. Good burgers. Good fries. We tried to ask for tap water, they charged us for a bottle of Evian. 2 good glasses of red wine. Good cappuccino. A solid 4 but not an out-of-this-world 5 (I’m a hard grader). Good place to watch the people in a busy plaza..
We wanted to have a late lunch in Deauville but most restaurants were closed. The Brasserie de la Mairie was open and they were serving lunch. We settled for the galettes (crepes) as we were in a hurry. 30 minutes later when nothing had arrived we were assured that they were ‘on their way’. When they finally arrived and we tucked into the crepes they were awful! The buckwheat (sarrasin) was undercooked and the crepe was barely edible. We left it, paid the bill and went elsewhere on the Place Morny.
Didn't enjoy our dinner here at all. I had the mussels which should have been great in a seaside town in France however they were not good. I'm used to my mussels being washed and the barnicals removed especially in a restaurant. My partner had the steak which he request rare. This came out medium to well done and looked a bit fatty around the outside. We both had chips and they looked like they had been under the heater for hours dry and wrinkly. The bar is lovely though, we sat outside with a bottle of rose after dinner and it was very nice. Nice location, nice waiter and great wine.
Having wandered around Trouville-Sur-Mer for over an hour we wanted somewhere to eat, relax and watch the world go by. We came across Le Brasserie de La Mairie and decided to give it a go. The beer was cold and thirst quenching and the waitress gave helpful advice about our initial choice of rose wine. The portions were substantial and we did not have to wait long for the food which was ultimately of good quality. The Brasserie is located in a slightly more quiet part of the town which makes for a more pleasant surrounding. Would certainly go back.
