They have all of the choices you would expect at an authentic bbq joint. The interior isthoughtfully designed and decorated, giving it the feel of a long-open establishment that caters to the neighborhood locals. Youorder at the counter and they call your number when the order is ready. I had the Johnny?s Combo sandwich with a side ofcoleslaw and mashed potatoes. Sauce choices are great and have piquant flavor notes.
Overall, the food was OK for a decent price. Baked beans were heavy on the molasses for my taste; cornbread was tasty but dry (maybe this is normal for some? . Coleslaw was fine. Beef brisket was tender but ultimately didn?t work for me. The best part ofthe meal was the sausage (hot link , which was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. I also ordered (online the ribs, but theydidn?t make it into my take away box. I didn?t attempt to correct the $2 mistake, but sad we weren?t able to try the ribs.
We go there all the time great food (love the bride), big portions, fast.
Everything was overwhelming. The bride, pork, chicken, all were amazing. The sauces are just as good, but honestly, the meats are so incredible that they don't even need the sauces. That said the kick of the hot sauce is addictive, and the vinegar-based North Carolina sauce is also great. Mix them together for a mix of flavors... simply can't go wrong. You too.
-Pulled Chicken was delicious and not dry. -I chose Hot Bbq sauce, which for any lack of taste, its decent thin sauce you can pour over yourself. But not really “hot”. Also asked for sweet Bbq sauce, but they just gave me hot. - The Collards were good, but nothing amazing taste wise. They probably drain the juice, so it does not spill on your other sides. - Rice and beans were also good, they would order again. -Cornbread is huge and comes with the meal, but it really lacks taste for me. I appreciate being there, but it can use a little more taste. Maybe sugar, honey, corn I don't know. -Sweet Bbq Chicken Dinner was a "dry ruin" that didn't matter to me, but it didn't blow my socks off and personally feel it was a little dry because it wasn't cooked with the sauce that they gave you on the side. Mine was half a chicken, and you get all these pieces. Breast, thighs, drum, wings. It was briefly lived because it needed the sauce she didn't give me (sweet bbq). I had to use the hot Bbq sauce from my other order and it was just OK and still dry. - Potatoes looked dry, but they were really delicious. I didn't have to add anything to them. I would order here again, but just stay on the pulled chicken, potatoes and rice and beans!!! Hopefully they give me the sweet bbq sauce next time so I can try it! The meat had a light smokiness, I enjoyed it and wished it was more of this smoke taste. Also for a “bbq place” it would be nice if they mac
