There was no notice that they would be closed prior to the paid entry in the evening. Customers that come here 52 weekends of the year are left to find elsewhere and treated very poorly. 1 out of 5 is still too high Money grabbing and out of touch with the community
Loved this place and service of the team. The menu choice was good. Soup and whitebait and chips. We both enjoyed our meals.
Whilst staying at the Village Hotel, a gentleman began to chat to us, who lived locally and recommended a couple of pubs in the village, where we could grab a bite to eat. The Glynne Arms and the Fox and Grapes. We ate at the Glynne Arms and had an amazing meal. The staff were attentive, the food was beautiful, the pub was clean, the ambience was perfect and the location was opposite a great park, which we enjoyed a brief walk around before heading back to the Hotel.
Lovely place, good for a quality sandwich! I dropped in for a lunchtime drink and a sandwich and was met with a friendly greeting and a choice of sandwiches and breads that would suit everyone. I opted for a fish finger sandwich on granary bread. It came with freshly fried fish goujons (fingers, whatever! spread with tasty homemade tartar sauce, salad and crisps. A meal and a half and excellent value for money. Worth a quick stop (or a longer one if you like....
The food here was really good. Let down by the service. We had to ask for our drinks after the starter arrived, we had to ask for Toast with the pate the server didn't know if it came with it or not. Roast beef dinner was the best we have had for miles around though. We asked for dessert menus which we then had to ask for again after 15 minutes. We eventually ordered ten minutes or so later, and then decided to get the bill after 20 minutes when the desserts never arrived, we did get soup spoons though as apparently that's all they had. I imagine there were dessert spoons somewhere but it was probably easier to just give soup spoons as it saved them having to leave their chit chat to go and find them. There were a couple of efficient staff behind the bar but the floor staff, of which there were plenty just stood chatting and drinking by the coffee machine ignoring everything that was going on. Such a shame, especially as the food is really good. If you can't offer efficient table service then just adjust your offer so customers can order at the bar. Customers don't mind paying a fair price for good food if the service is good too. Its not hard. It seemed the place wasn't managed tonight maybe it was just a bad day but puts you off a revisit when this is already the second time we have had this experience.
