I AM A FORMER EMPLOYEE! The culinary management team is the absolute worst I have ever had the displeasure of working with in all my 30 years in the work force.Management tries telling certain workers how to cook. Truth be told, all of their cooking is absolutely disgusting! As a chef, I pride myself on preparing quality food for anyone I cook for. Instead of gratitude, I was seen as a rotten seed to this management team (despite students loving my cooking and making it known to management that they loved my cooking). The management here does not care about the quality of food served to students and will serve anything (no matter how poor the quality is).Students have gotten sick after eating here (with exception of my cooking). Management showed no concern about the well being of students.Having previously worked here, I can honestly say that Emory University would be better off terminating this entire food management staff and running the operation themselves! The Management Team here consists of Tarun Kapoor (General Manager), Jonathan Oliver (Executive Chef), Jermarce Miller (Executive Sous Chef), and Michael Guy (Chef Manager).Where ever this team went to culinary school (if any of them even attended culinary school at all), they all need refunds from their culinary schools!None of these individuals should be allowed to be in charge of a nursery school kitchen, let alone the kitchen of a historic university such as Emory.Unless you like your food bland, dry, dull, and totally flavorless, do not eat at Dobbs Common Table!!
Dinner and lunch service are great—nice variety of food from different cuisines. But breakfast is pretty bad—the same food is pushed out every day for the main entree: usually eggs, tater tots, and some very salty protein like bacon. It would be nice if there are more options available from different cuisines to make breakfast more healthy and good enough to eat every day. There is a rice bar, which is a good start.
