Five members of our family attended for dinner. We booked the table online, the time allotted was 6:45 pm. Opon arrival, service was slow. Little acknowledgement. No one greeted us. After waiting at the bar, and asking for menus and drinks we sat down. Only then were we told that we had to order by 7 pm because the kitchen was closing. We ordered in a hurry. The food was very average. When we asked, they had “run out of “both mayonnaise and tartar sauce. I work in hospitality, and know how hard it can be. I understand that a Kitchen can run out of product, and sometimes booking arrangements go awry. Nevertheless, the standard of service and food was not acceptable. The food was poor, the service similar, and the atmosphere in the bar not welcoming. It was not cheap. I do not mind paying good money for good food. Do not waste your time here.
Stayed here for two nights while touring Wales on our motorbike. A brilliant location for Snowdonia national park and the wonderful roads going north or the road from Builth Wells and the Elan Valley. It's a beautiful quirky hotel with 5 rooms a lovely bar, restaurant and outside area. The staff are really friendly. The food was amazing. The breakfast was generous and extremely good quality. And then we come to our evening meal... a good menu and we opted for a pie each. I had steak and guniess and OH had chicken leek and ham. Both were superb and it's hands down the best evening meal we've had on our tour of Wales service, price, ambiance nothing to fault about this place. Heads up the restaurant isn't open on a Monday and recommend you book in advance in the evening although there were walk ins later in the evening. Definitely recommend and will visit again if we're touring this part of Wales again.
Great selection of food, we went twice during our stay in Llandbedr. First night we had Steak and Guiness pie and Chicken Nanizza (mix between naan and pizza and they were nice. Second night we had Anglesey Burger (very filling! , chicken and avocado salad (there was no avocado and we weren't told this at the time of ordering but we were so hungry at this point we didn't care . No table service, you had to order at the bar which didn't bother us, however bear this in mind if you go on a Saturday evening as the bar area is small and got very busy. Nice seating area outside, you can sit by the wall along the stream. Prices were reasonable too. Also of note, food isn't served beyond 7pm on Sunday. We recommend you book during busier periods.
We did our research before we went but Ignore what the Robinson website says about £10 burger and fish and chips and £14 wine. VERY expensive pub food, £17 burger or fish and chips. House wine £20. We decided to not get the wine but as there weren’t any other options in the area for food, we decided to take the hit and see if the food was worth £17, it wasn’t. I was dubious about deep frying lemon soul but there was nothing else on the limited menu I could eat. It was dry, the tempura batter that should have been light and crispy was not. It was more like cardboard. They only gave you two small tubes of tartar sauce so even that could cover it. My local hungry horse does a better fish and chips. My partner said his burger was ok but he ran out of his small ketchup in a couple of chips. Also what the website says, they don’t serve food on Monday or Tuesday. Given you can’t email or phone the pub I’m not sure how you’d check ahead if they’re serving food or what they are serving but it’s not what the website says. VERY loud music!and I mean ear blistering. Most people were outside for this reason. This used to be a nice pub. It’s by a brook and you used to be able to sit in the garden and listen to it. Not anymore. Go elsewhere. There used to be comfy rattan seats outside and a larger shaded area. Both gone. Now it’s glaring sun and hard benches.I tried to sit outside but there was a screaming child the parents were doing nothing about it. I’m autistic and ended up curled up rocking and screaming at the sensory overload. I tried to sit inside but the music was too loud. Thankfully a lady saw my plight and asked me what was wrong. When I explained she asked the bar staff to turn the music down. They did a little but they’d refused before. I asked if we could cancel the food but they couldn’t. Then someone said they had a quiet room in the back. It had reserved on the tables but staff said we could sit there. Most of the tables inside had reserved but the place was empty. It was quiet until the screaming kid came inside and the screaming echoed down the corridors. Not a good place if you don’t like loud music and screaming kids. I’ve been coming here for years but won’t be coming again.
