Paquebote - Denia

First the good; the venue is great, rooftop terrace directly on the beach, great views. Some of the cooking was good. Unfortunatly many of the items on the menu, particularly the restaurant's specialities are only available at a weeks notice. Paella and other arroces, tajine, couscous and the other dishes that the restaurant has a reputation for are not available to the casual diner, even with a reservation. For some reason the Fish Soup was similarly not available. For the meat-eater that basically means entretcote steak is your only option. Slightly more possibilities for the pescatarian though. The Pulpo Gallego was very good as were the Boquerones. Steak was OK, ditto the Bacalao. The bread was stale (and lacked the customary alioli). Cheesecake was pedestrian, but the coffee good. The service was a little hit and miss, but well-meaning. Overall, I'd hoped for better.

Going there for more than 20 years to have the tajin, unique!!! in fact we are returning next week.... also other local dishes like suquet de pescado are superb... the place (by the beach) is not easy to find (specially at night) and looks somehow old, but it is really worth, service is good, the owner (the son of the former owner) is always nice

A good place in principle. Unfortunatly, when we went several items were 'off ' the menu and most of the remainder had to be ordered in advance. The view is great

Como siempre, excelente cuscús. Servicio algo lento y caótico, no sé si por fin de temporada o porque estaban desbordados, trato muy profesional
