Contribuisci feedbackI visited Pho 38 on the first snowy day, craving some pho, and I was not let down. I opted for the vegetable egg rolls and a small chicken pho. The vegetable egg rolls were okay, but nothing outstanding. The chicken pho had a nice flavor, but it definitely needed a good amount of hoisin sauce, lime, sriracha, and jalapeños, as it was a bit bland on its own. However, I don’t mind adding my own toppings! My friend had the shrimp spring rolls and beef pho, and she enjoyed her meal as well. The portion sizes are generous, making it a great value. Even the small pho was quite filling, and our total bill for two appetizers and two small pho bowls, including tip, was around $30. The servers were very friendly, too. With the colder weather coming, I will definitely be back!
From the simple menu, my friend ordered the Beef Stew with Wonton Noodles Soup ($10.50), while her husband chose the Small Pho Combination ($9). I went with the Shrimp Chow Fun ($12). When our food arrived, it seemed there was a mix-up with my friend's order. The staff quickly rectified this by providing her with the correct bowl of noodles, although I unfortunately forgot to take pictures of the updated dish. The service was prompt and efficient. I requested chili oil, which you need to ask for, as it isn’t automatically provided with your order. My Shrimp Chow Fun seemed to be missing something. Pho 38 prepares their Shrimp Chow Fun in a "white" style, semi-wet, meaning it doesn’t include dark soy sauce, which I actually prefer. The dish included several shrimp, tofu, and a mix of baby corn, broccoli, carrots, and green zucchini. Next time, I might ask if they can add Asian vegetables like baby bok choy, napa cabbage, or gai lan instead of the typical American vegetables found at many Chinese restaurants. I can’t recall if they serve pickled green chili peppers or pickled jalapeños, but I wouldn’t mind paying extra for them to enhance the dish. Overall, though my Shrimp Chow Fun was just okay, I appreciated the generous portion sizes and reasonable prices. Both my friend and I had leftovers after our lunch, while her husband finished his pho. I may consider returning to try different items from their menu when I'm in the area. However, keep in mind that parking can be limited during peak hours, as Pho 38 shares the strip mall with three other eateries. There is street parking available as well, so plan ahead. --- I was surprised to discover that the menu featured both Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, whichreally threw me for a loop. Unfortunately, this was the only dining experience in Denver that didn't meet my expectations. Feeling a bit under the weather, I hoped that some pho would lift my spirits. Sadly, it didn't quite deliver. I also tried a small wonton soup, but it was disappointing—the wontons didn't taste fresh. The pork egg rolls were decent, though there isn't much to say about them. The portion of pho was generous, but the broth lacked the rich flavor and depth I was hoping for. I added plenty of lemon, and while the warm broth did help me feel a bit better, I've definitely had much better pho in the past. The service was acceptable; we arrived 40 minutes before closing and finished just as they were shutting down. Overall, it wasn’t the dining experience I had anticipated.
Oh dear lord in heaven the chicken wings, the wonton soup, the pho. This place rocks. Whole the dining room is small and nothing too fancy and they bring it with the food completely. The wonton soup is unique in that it comes with delicious house made wonton dumplings and then also some egg noodles, and you can add beef stew to it if you 're feeling frisky. Of note, I did add it and it was really good but it was a lot of the adventurous meat parts that I just wasn 't ready for. Did they taste good? Absolutely. I just needed warning I guess. OMG IS THAT TRIPE? ...I mean, it 's fine I 'm cool, everything is fine. The chicken wings are straight out of the after life delicious they are some kind of double fried delicious lemongrass magic. They have spicy and regular. Buy both and call it a night. Love this place.
Pho 38 doesn't just have pho, they are also a Southern Chinese restaurant with great Hong Kong style Beef Stew and Wontons. This is one of the top places for wontons IMHO. Honestly I have yet to order any pho and have always either got their Beef Stew w Wonton and Ho Fun or Egg Noodle. Or just plain Wonton soup. Ask for the chili oil, I didn't think it was spicy but it added really good flavor to the soup. I would say this place and Hong Kong cafe are my favorite Wonton place so far, HK cafe has really good one, but it's a lot further away from home so when I have Wonton cravings pho 38 is my go to. There never is too many ppl eating in but I noticed a lot of ppl get take out of their Chinese cuisine. Try their wontons, you won't be disappointed!!
