Highly recommend if you're a fan of whiskey.
Great place, marred by some soured/off beers on the cask pump.21 aug23 Knowledgeable and pleasant waitress and bartender/brewer.Great vibe and decor inside, though it doesn't look like much outside.I got the London broil, it was very good. Came with a nice salad. Thought it was a great price for $17.50 for what I got! This was my 2nd visit. The cask IPA was sour and not good. The nitro ESB had a funny flavor to me, but was ok. Might have been I'm not used to ESB on nitro. The Airedale Pale Ale, carbonated, was quite good. Similar to Bass Ale, and actually quite a good copy. Was here once before during 2020 covid, all the beers I tried were off and sour with brettanomyces. That was both cask ales and a bitter. Decided to give a pass due to low customer demand and trying to keep business afloat. Owner?/brewer was a nice guy. After reading a review 3 weeks old on sour casks, and visiting twice, I feel like they need to completely sterilize their cask system...handpumped seems infected and sour. Seems like a persistent infection, a shame after all the work this guy is putting in. I appreciate his effort and will continue to visit, but will have to enjoy his other beers instead of my #1 target.I basically visit English pubs in every city I visit, and search for cask ale i.e. hand-pumped bitter, pale, or IPA. About 4 cities a week, and lived in Suffolk UK for 4 years.
Dated pub that only excels because of the hard working waitresses. I was not in love with the beer I got and the food was good but not especially flavorful or fresh. The decor outside looks bad, I wasn't sure they were open but inside is a bit better. Everything clean but looks faded and sad. I actually had a good time because we could visit without shouting over music or tons of people. So there is that. I guess you can't have everything all at once. Shout-out to the waitress. She was 5 star.
This pub is a gem! How wonderful to have CASK ALE and such a large single malt scotch selection right here in Denver. I’ve been a few times and have only enjoyed wonderful service, food and beverage. However — with the heat and humidity of this 2023 summer — I want to especially warn cask ale lovers that the latest batch of casks aren’t tasting as expected, as I’ve had in the past. Both casks happened to be unfortunately infected with brettanomyces and are producing a sour, barnyard, acetobacteric flavor that is up front and completely destructive of the flavor of their in-house ales. When I brought this up with the bartender, she was so sweet, courteous and kind enough to pour me something different. I want to support this business as much as I can, but would advocate for one of their scotches or bottled beers before the casks are switched out!
New local favorite! Love the atmosphere. The bartender was super helpful and a joy to chat with. They have an amazing selection of hundreds of whisky's along with their own British brews. Can't wait to return again!Food: 5/5
