La Cabaña Mexican Grill - Des Moines

No complaints. It wasn’t busy when I came in but all the food and drinks came out fast. Food wasn’t dry or super greasy which is always great. If you like piña coladas this is definitely the place to go! Frozen margaritas are great too!Food: 5/5

The food was decent, featuring typical Mexican-American dishes. There wasn't anything particularly exciting about it; it missed the vibrant flavors and character that authentic Mexican cuisine is known for. I enjoyed the margarita flight—it was a fun experience to try, at least once. Unfortunately, the menu seems to have been adapted for American tastes, which is disappointing given the rich diversity in the DSM area. The staff were all fantastic and friendly. However, when I visit a Mexican restaurant, I really crave genuine Mexican flavors. The dishes feel toned down to fit the Iowa palate, but I would be open to returning to sample other menu items. I ordered the Camarones Al Mojo, and the prices were quite reasonable with generous portions.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food. There are numerous options on the menu. According to my wife, the margaritas are fantastic. The portions were much larger than we anticipated. With such a wide variety to choose from, we will definitely be returning. Food: 5/5

The steak tacos were quick and absolutely delicious! If you find yourself on the Southside of Des Moines and craving traditional Mexican food, make sure to stop by this place!
