Both a sign on the van and Google maps listing claim the opening hours on Friday are 11am 7pm. I understand that unforeseen circumstances occur from time to time, but it wouldn’t have take much effort to update the opening hours on Google so that customers know to not make a trip in vein.
Drove by South Park location and saw the food truck. Then I saw a closer location. Went and tried out. I have been to the Middle East and first time trying shawarma was in Israel. So I though hmm maybe they will be good! Falafel is a favorite as well. Tried the chicken shawarma plate. Yellow rice was decent, hummus was ok. Shawarma was ok. Definitely did not seem authentic to me. I would love to try a falafel sandwich and fries next, but I'm not so impressed to rush back. Definitely beats fast food. And it's different just not like seeing the meat carved off the big spit.
This truck moved in a year ago and has been a great addition to the food scene in Des Moines. The food is flavorful, authentic, and fresh. The food is good enough to give this place a 4 star review despite the grievances listed below. There are some things that could be changed or improved. Hours at this truck are inconsistent. Menu prices seem a little too high, and they tack on a 4% fee if you pay in card. They also made some menu changes that I wish they could return to: the kebab sandwich used to come in a tortilla. Hopefully they can add that as a substitution at some point.
Delicious! I thought the portion sizes were going to be small but I was really full at the end of lunch.
Very good worth the wait ! I think they use lamb for the kebab , lovely authentic taste ! Try it out !
