Mehanata - Des Plaines

Great menu, great service and the food comes out fast! The grill and dessert items stand out.

Mehanata is a good Bulgarian restaurant that boasts ethnic decor and serves a variety of Bulgarian dishes. I must highlight that their presentation appears more homemade and traditional than that of a typical restaurant. During our visit, we tried their cold soup Tarator , salad Shopska and Combo Shashlik. I enjoyed the presentation of the shashlik on skewers, and the meat was juicy and tender.

Absolutely delighted to taste the authentic Bulgarian cousine. Lots of great flavor packed in beautifully presented dishes.

Food is good and the menu is really big so you have plenty of options. This was my first time trying Bulgarian food so I went with the safe choice (chicken) but I'll definitely come back to try some of the other dishes.

Absolutely love this place taste just like how my grandma once cooked these delicious Bulgarian meals.
