What a cool and funky spot we stumbled upon while passing through Detroit! I absolutely loved the attached Detroit barbershop. The atmosphere was truly unique and captured the essence of Michigan. Food: 5/5.
This charming coffee shop is a must-visit! I ordered a cappuccino, and it was absolutely delicious. I didn't add any sweetener, and with the first sip, it tasted like chocolate. We also sampled a couple of pastries: the chocolate croissant and the cherry Danish. The Danish was wonderfully buttery!
I had such high hopes for this place up and coming neighborhood, a combined location with a barber shop, in a building that had been adaptively reused it was such a unique and interesting concept. But the barista was a bit too droll and ironic and the food was served in throw away containers rather than real dishes and cups. The Swiss cheese and ham croissant was not bad The espresso seemed ok not too bitter, a little acidic, but probably could have benefitted from the usual accoutrements a biscuit, a glass of water, a zest of lemon, etc. just seemed like the basics for a great coffee place weren 't at the fore. Maybe we 're in the era when it 's enough to look cool without having real service and value underneath. Hopefully not. At least the prices did not have the hipster premium.
Lucky is my favorite coffee shop in Detroit. It hands down has the best chai tea latte super flavorful which is so hard to find for some reason. It had a lot of yummy foam too. Every time I come here I have the most friendly experiences with both the staff and the customers. It is attached to a barber shop so it is decorated very cool and unique. Upstairs is a whole loft area to get work done with long tables and couches etc. They have pastries as well. The only downside is the chai only comes in one small size and is pretty pricey (around $6 for dirty chai) but worth it! They are also friendly when I bring my dog in for a quick visit.
