I visited this restaurant about five years ago when it was a Rock 'n' Roll-themed venue owned by a co-founder of a local candle company. The food, prices, and service were great back then. Now, as Wit’s End, I’ve dined there twice in the last three months. To be diplomatic and not overly harsh, let me say that both times I found the spacious restaurant completely empty, except for myself and my elderly parents. The first visit was particularly frustrating: our waitress seemed more interested in her phone than in providing service. After waiting a while, I had to remind her we were still waiting for menus and water. Our simple hamburger orders took an astonishing 45 minutes to arrive—when they finally did, they were just average. On our next visit, we were hungry again, and with no other options nearby, we decided to give it another shot. This time, there was one other table with four teenagers, and we were encouraged to try the "you-have-to-try-this" chicken-fried steak special. Alas, we waited an unbelievable hour and twenty minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, the portions were shockingly small, especially considering their high price. At that point, we were so hungry that we were close to eating our napkins and desperately wished we could have had some crackers or snacks while waiting. Coming from a small town, I’m often attuned to any subtle signs that a place doesn’t welcome certain types of customers, but aside from the inattentive server, I didn’t get that vibe here—just an appalling wait time without a clear reason. If you have an entire afternoon or evening to spare, you might consider it, but honestly, I’d rather fry an egg on my car engine. I won’t be returning.
