Mynydd Ddu Tea Rooms Cwmdu

I discovered this cafe online and I am so glad we did. The staff were very welcoming, and they even allowed our dog inside. We both ordered the big cooked breakfast and were blown away by how delicious it was. I usually don't enjoy cooked breakfasts, but this one was amazing. The quality of ingredients and the way they were cooked was perfect. We would definitely go back again.

On Saturday morning, we stopped by a restaurant looking for breakfast during a 3-hour journey. However, when we walked in, the girl behind the counter was too busy talking to someone out of sight to even greet us. Another girl emerged from the back and set food on the counter without acknowledging us. It seemed like all the staff were preoccupied chatting with each other and not interested in serving us. Since the restaurant appeared empty and we did not feel welcomed, we ultimately decided to leave as it seemed they did not want our business.

We stopped by for tea cakes and a caramel slice on Friday on our journey to Aberystwyth. We returned again today on our way back to Kent. We always enjoy the standard breakfasts and can never resist taking away some tea cakes. The service is consistently excellent and friendly, and the food is always top-notch. It can get busy at times, so there may be a bit of a wait, but it's always worth it. We have been coming here for the past 5 years and I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner - I've just been too busy enjoying the food.

Good meals but slow service. 45 mins from ordering to the sandwich arriving on the table. The quality was good and portion size fine. It would have been 4 star but for other issues. I totally understand covid restrictions and supplying a covered area outside is good BUT it appears that it doubles as a smoking area with 3 tables smoking as we ate our meals. Nothing to do with the cafe but dogs sat on benches and eating food off a customers plates is a big no no!

When I originally placed order, the young lady carefully wrote down all our requirements, and told us it would be no problem at all. Different story when food arrived at table. Both orders had stuff missing, both orders had items we requested to be left off. Ended up sending the poor waitress back five times. The food itself was very greasy. The mushrooms were swimming in oil, that didn't smell or taste great at all. Overall very disappointing.
