It was lunch and there were not many others un the place My dining partner ordered a burger and fries and said they were excellent. Fries seemed fresh cut. I ordered grilled haddock with baked potato and veg. The veggies were okay (seemed like warmed up frozen - I could be wrong) but the haddock tasted good.
Seafood chowder to die for. Wonderful friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere make this a must visit!
My husband and I visited this restaurant after going up to Meat Cove and learning that the famous Chowder Hut, where we had planned to eat lunch, had recently burned down. We were famished so we started to look for somewhere else to eat and soon found out that mostly everything was closed on that particular day of the week. I believe it was a Monday. The only place we found open was Angie's Family Restaurant so we walked in and were seated at a table that was just having the used dishes removed. We sat down and waited for the table to be cleaned and have the menus brought over. That didn't happen, so I got the menus myself and we waited and waited and waited. In the meantime other folks were coming in and being attended to as it should be. Instead of making a big deal about it, we just decided to get up and walk out, so we can't comment on the food. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it is a small place with just one waitress, and it was quite busy. but we would have appreciated at least having the table cleaned and having the menus brought over. I believe that on that particular day of the week that everything else is closed they should have more personnel to handle the rush.
Came upon Angie's while driving the Cabot trail and thought it looked like a quaint little place. Got the just minutes after noon, there was only a large table of 6 available which had a reserved sign on it? But the lady told us to sit down she would figure it out when the party arrived. We then waited, no water or menus arrived. I myself got menus thinking it would speed things up if we at least knew our order. Nope, 25 min. Later our order was taken and waters provided. In the meantime another young girl was there but totally useless. Didn't seem to at least provide menus water and clear tables! In the mean while two parties of two came and left when heard the wait. Three parties were turned away while a table was left in reserve. We finally got our burger and fish and chips after 1 hr ! 1 and 1/4 hr later we took. No complaints about the food but boy this place needs more people. It's peak season and she was doing one table at a time. Not a multi tasked. If your in no rush what so ever proceed otherwise keep going
Pretty small and local restaurant that was full on the day we passed Cape North. We decided to do take out since we were a group of 10, waited for more than an hour but the food was excellent. In their defense, it was the first busy day of the season ;-).
