Mendoza's best experience! The sublime wines of Eduardo and Emilia and the exquisite food of the chefs give you pure happiness from the first sip and bite. The atmosphere invites you to relax and transport you to another time. We were lucky to have a tour with Gonzalo, the artist who has his workshop on the farm, who showed us his art, every corner of the house and told us the story of what is now Finca La Cayetana. Undoubtedly it is the most successful plan we have had on our journey and it is not compared to any other experience. The passion with which they live what they do is evident and reflected in the final product; and that is, finally, what touches us so much and will make us want to return always.
This is one of those places in the world that makes you feel part of a special club, that of the people who know the secret of La Cayetana. Arriving is not difficult but is not “evident”, the proposal is not built in the same direction of the local tourist proposal. Something different happens here. The Cayetana is old, as old as Argentina. However, her family and now her “new family” have kept her and restored her to feel alive and young. If by their halls they have paraded presidents and even a pope, today they receive wine enthusiasts so that they feel as wild as they felt those, with a kitchen that is by its technical level at the height of the most sophisticated in the world but that it uses the local ingredients to challenge the known logics of the flavor. The central excuse is the wines and also for them there is a fan search: on the one hand the recovery of the local, on the other the recovery of the historical that has roots in other lands and traditions (French, Spanish). At the peculiar junction where history is updated without being unaware, there are “rare” strains: Garnacha, the capricious Monastrell, Pedro Ximenez. Some grow up with little intervention, natural. Others, with the rigorousness of the recipes of French fine wine that knew to be the bra of this farm. The tasting then comes into a rainbow: a challenge for palates that get used to some or other styles. The pairing is unquestionable. The dishes are returned clean, the cups are so generous that inevitably some will be loaded with a tribute to the god of the grapes. Many reviews mention Eduardo. It's impossible to ignore it. La Cayetana is an artistic and loving work that carries forward a team (Charly and Carlos in kitchen, Gonzalo from his art atelier, Emilia), that Eduardo commands with the safety of those who know that the only way to create an exceptional experience is not to abandon the ambition to touch the summit. Every day. Touching summit costs, but it's worth it. I made the reservation now.
I'm going to hypear because they deserve it: In La Cayetana we had the best food from our trip to Mendoza. Period. We went to many very good places, but nowhere did we eat as rich as in La Cayetana. The experience was different from others. It's a lunch at a house, not in a cellar. The place is very nice and has history. That ajoblanco with grapes, as delicate as tasty. I liked everything but the salty alphajorcite of goat cheese with purple corn caps and sweet corn dip, I EXPLOTED THE TERMOTANQUE. On top of the sommelier Milton had the good tin of pairing that step with a white wine that generated in my palate a fusion where the seams were not noticed. A homogeneous flavor that lined up my farms. Very strong applause for Chef Charly and company. The divine place, the very cordial people, the atypical and tasty wines and the food a treat. 10 points, congratulated.
The warmth they received us has no name. They took us to the house, the estate, and gave us all the explanations. Lunch was amazing. 6 steps, which is better. The wines, supreme... 4 in the program, and three more as tasting. We spent 5 unforgettable hours there thanks to the attention of the owners of the house. It's recommended but a little expensive. There are other very good ones. Agostino House really liked it. And we also visited Clos de Chacra, which improved well after the pandemic.
