Havari Cafe - Djupivogur

This is a small vegan restaurant that is on the ring road but is not close to anything. we really enjoyed the food and the couple who ran the restaurant were really nice. my only issue was that their prices were really high, even for Iceland, as vegan sausage, a bowl of soup, soda, and piece of cake were over $50 US.

The people were sooooooo friendly, warm, and welcoming. We came when it was a more quiet time. Just a few couples and families stopping for coffee, sweets, a meal, or to stretch their legs but the conversation with the people behind the bar was plenty of new friendship and sweetness. The view and a warm beverage (coffee or tea) are more than worth pulling into the driveway and taking a break. I couldn't indulge in the food because of celiacs and cross contamination level sensitivity so the conversation, warm beverage, and view sufficed for my sweet and snacky satisfaction, but the food looked almost too good to pass up. Gluten Free note: They do have gluten free food but with my level of celiacs I didn't want to risk cross contamination after speaking with them.

Over the summer, I had the chance to dine at Havarí organic farm. We started with a flavorful vegetarian soup and delicious bread, followed by homemade chocolate and rhubarb cakes that were extremely tasty. The staff are accommodating and you can pre-book a table for your group. The service was excellent, and it was a pleasure interacting with the owners and staff. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant.

I needed to stop for a break and had waffles and cocoa. It was a special treat The waffles were topped off with chocolate bits and served with whipped cream on the side. The cocoa could have been a little warmer, but it did taste good.

Apparantly the middle of nowhere, a bit remote from the main road, but worth a stop. Coffees and cakes are great. Enjoy!
