This glacier was often busy in the afternoons we stayed in Domme, so plan a few minutes on the line. Delicious, non-sweet flavors with generous blade sizes. Flavors are listed on the board in French and English. Get a cone and drive to the small park a few steps away for a great view of the Dordogne Valley.
You can tell it's going to be good from the long queues waiting to be served, but the wait is certainly well worth it. The ice creams, in a cone or a cup, are generous and very very tasty. There is a great choice of...flavours, all made on the premises. As others have mentioned, it would be nice if they opened later, especially on a hot summer's night, but they work so hard during opening hours to serve a vast number of customers, that one can understand that they need a rest!! Absolutely brilliant!
On a hot day after visiting the Grotte du Domme four of us enjoyed a double scoop ice cream. The portions were very generous and flavours excellent. Between us we sampled walnut, salted caramel, rum raisin, pistachio and raspberry/ blackberry flavoured, all strong flavours...very smooth. The prices were also around 30% less than we've see this holiday in most other towns.
We've visited Domme many times over the years, it's such a beautiful village with stunning views. For some reason, possibly because previous visits were during the morning, we only discovered this great ice cream shop a few years ago. Now, we make sure we go...to Domme in the afternoon, sometimes simply to try another of the many flavours on offer. There's a large choice of imaginative flavours, I tend to go for the refreshing fruity flavours but my husband adores the liquorice flavour. Price very reasonable, two large scoops in a double for 3.50 euros. Note that their opening hours are 1.00pm 7.00pm. Highly recommended and worth a detour!
