I have been a loyal customer of this excellent restaurant for many years and it has never disappointed me. The salt and pepper chicken is delicious, and although they may have some immigrants working in the kitchen cooking chow mein for very low wages, you are rewarded with high quality cuisine at reasonable prices.
I recommend that this restaurant discontinue its takeaway service. I placed an order at 6:40 pm on a Saturday evening and, two hours later, my meal still had not been delivered. This level of service is simply not acceptable.
Food is usually very good, but unfortunately that's where it ends. Unless you're going in mid-Summer, take a coat. It's usually very cold inside the hideously decorated restaurant. No draught beer, only ridiculously priced cans. All drinks are expensive there. I shan't return, many other much better places to eat.
I have recently returned to the Fortune as my take away of choice mainly because of moving house... on the whole its OK, but last weekend my dish was inedible... which takes some doing after 7 pints...the meat was nearly all fat... very poor quality... but I will admit sometimes it can really be good. The one thing that really needs to change with this place is that the outside needs to be tidied up.... there are windows missing and other stuff that really do not create a good impressions... especially when you have seen generations of pigeons residing in the upper floors..
